Chapter 4
Was it because of that name, “Olivia“?
But this wasn’t the first time. He had already told her long ago that his heart belonged to someone else–why was she making a scene now?
Isabella could tell what he was thinking. Without saying a word, she simply turned and got out of bed, grabbed a blanket, and walked toward the door.
Tll sleep in the guest room.”
Alexander couldn’t find any words to persuade her to stay, so he could only sit on the bed and watch her leave without hesitation. His usually calm face showed a hint of indescribable frustration.
In the days that followed, neither of them softened first, and their relationship remained lukewarm.
It wasn’t until the day of Benjamin’s birthday that Alexander threw him a grand banquet. Many people attended, including Olivia.
Isabella sat in a corner, watching as her husband and son surrounded Olivia, fussing over her, showing her great care. The warmth between the three of them made it look more like a family of three than her own family.
“Mr. Carter, Mrs. Carter, Young Master Carter.”
A few people approached with wine glasses, greeting them casually before engaging in conversation.
When they heard the way they referred to them, Alexander was stunned for a moment. This was the fifty–sixth time that day someone had mistakenly assumed their relationship.
He subconsciously looked toward Isabella, only to see her lowering her head, hiding all her emotions.
His heart softened, and he spoke up to explain, “Olivia is not Mrs. Carter. She is my… sister.”
Only then did the guests realize their mistake and quickly apologized.
Afterward, the group gathered to discuss.
“I thought Mr. Carter was always around that woman named Olivia, so I assumed she was Mrs. Carter. But where’s the real Mrs. Carter?”
Someone pointed toward Isabella, “Over there.”

Farewell Without Return

“That’s so sad. It’s his son’s birthday banquet, and yet the husband and son are all around another
Isabella pretended not to hear, her expression always calm.
It wasn’t until the gift giving segment that she stepped forward and handed a set of keys to Benjamin.
The locked your gift in the safe. You can open it and see.”
Inside the safe was a gift for Benjamin that she had prepared for the many birthdays to come. After all, once she and Alexander got their divorce certificate, she would never see him again.
But when the key was handed to him. Benjamin didn’t even glance at it. He casually tossed the key aside and looked up, speaking with disdain.
“I don’t have time to look at that!”
“Don’t speak to your mother like that!” Alexander furrowed his brow, reprimanding him softly, then turned back to Isabella, “He’s still young, don’t take it to heart.”
She remained silent, managing a faint smile.
Yes, the child was still young.
But that wasn’t an excuse for him to treat his biological mother like this.
How much did he not care for her to keep using the “he’s still young” excuse to brush her off?
In the meantime, Benjamin had already run to Olivia, his eyes filled with excitement.
“Auntie, what gift did you get me?”
Olivia smiled as she took out a gift- a storybook.
It wasn’t even wrapped, clearly just something she had bought on a whim. Benjamin joyfully accepted it, smiling so widely his eyes almost disappeared.
“Thank you, Auntie! I love it, I’ll keep it safe!”
After the gifts were given, it was time for the wish segment. Benjamin stood in front of the expensive cake, closed his eyes, and crossed his hands.
The next second, his childish voice reached everyone’s ears.
“I hope Auntie can be my mom and be with Dad forever!”

The room fell silent for a moment, and then the noise broke out. Alexander was stunned and immediately scolded, “Don’t talk nonsense.”
But Benjamin wasn’t afraid. He blinked and pouted, refusing to back down.
“Doesn’t Dad want to be with Auntie? I saw it in the study. Your drawers are full of love letters to Auntie and you keep her photos. The books on the shelf are all filled with her name. Isabella is just a maid, so why can’t you be with Auntie?”
As soon as those words were spoken, Olivia turned her head and looked at Alexander, her eyes quickly filling with tears, her eyelids turning red.
“Brother, you’ve never forgotten about me, right?”
Alexander awkwardly avoided her gaze, falling into silence. She became persistent, “I just want an
answer, Brother…”
As the last word fell, tears finally streamed down her face, landing heavily on his heart, softening it completely.
His love for her spilled out, and he spoke, the words he had been hiding finally coming out.
“Yes, I have never forgotten about you.”
As soon as Alexander’s words fell, the entire room fell into dead silence!
Suddenly, a crashing sound echoed throughout the banquet hall. Everyone instinctively looked toward the source of the sound, only to find that someone had accidentally bumped into the champagne tower. Unfortunately, Olivia was standing right where it fell.
“Olivia!”
“Auntie!”
Alexander and Benjamin both shouted in alarm, while Isabella stood by, watching as the father and son rushed toward Olivia, who had been too startled to dodge. She, standing aside, became an obstacle in their path, and they pushed her aside roughly.
