Gilded Lies Ch 10

Gilded Lies Ch 10

Chapter 10

In the process, Jordan buried his own conscience. That day, he waited outside the door, listening to the girl’s desperate screams from inside. Her voice started sharp, then gradually turned hoarse until it finally faded into silence. Only then did he appear as a savior, rescuing her from her misery

Willa had just gone through hell. She never once doubted his words. He told her that he would bring her attacker to justice and she believed him. Her frail body curled up in his arms, too exhausted to even shed a tear. In this way, he kept the little rabbit by his side and protected it. That lasted for five years

He had always been someone with a strong will, but without realizing it, his feelings for Willa had changed. The shift was so subtle that he didn’t even notice it at first. The moment Willa was in trouble, the love suppressed by hatred erupted. It burned him to ashes, leaving him battered and bruised. Sadly, it was too late

Lost in thought, he was snapped back to reality by the sound of his phone ringing. It was Jade calling again. His friend frowned and reminded him, Don’t blame me for being nosy, that Jade, she’s no good. If it weren’t for her, you and Willa wouldn’t have ended up like this. It was her idea to bankrupt the Schmidts five years ago and it was her idea to drag Willa into that room. If I’m not wrong, she’s also the one who gave you that drug, right? That woman isn’t on your side. She’s just using you to make sure Willa never gets back on her feet.

Jordan also understood his friend’s words. He hung up the phone and casually sent a voice message. You’re Jordan’s wife now. There’s no need to keep contacting me. When the yacht docks, I’ll have Jordan pick you up. From now on, we’re done.”

The message had barely been sent when Jade called again. He wanted to reject it, but his trembling fingers accidentally hit the answer button. Her chokedup voice came through immediately. Jordan? Did Willa say something? If she’s upset, I can apologize in person. I don’t blame her for pushing me into the water, it was my fault. I wasn’t careful, I lost my balance. Please don’t fight because of me. I already owe you both so much.

Jordan’s patience finally ran out. His voice turned icecold. Enough. We both know how you fell into the water and we both know how the news about Willa got out. Willa might hate you, but she’s never done anything to hurt you. You, on the other hand, have never stopped trying to destroy her. You think I don’t see what you’re doing? Having Jordan isn’t enough for you, is it?

*Jade, you’re reaching too far. Sooner or later, it’s going to come back to you. I already said, this is the end of the line for us. Don’t contact me again. I don’t want Jordan to start overthinking things. That’s it. I’m hanging up.He ended the call before she could respond. Yet, his heart was still pounding in his chest as if it were about to burst. Soon, the employees he had sent to search for Willa started rel coming back. One after another, all with the same answer. There was no sign of her

The moment the yacht docked, Jordan made a decision. He called the police. The investigation spread far and wide. Eventually, they found traces of Willa abroad. Jordan didn’t hesitate. He handed his company affairs over to his friend and went straight to the airport. On the way, he sent a message to his brother, but not to beg for Jade

No, he was finally telling him the truth. Jade was his wife; he deserved to know the kind of person she really was. What he chose to do with that knowledge, whether to stay or leave, was up to him. Jordan wouldn’t interfere anymore.”

At the same time, I had been recuperating in a foreign hospital for a week. After a number of tests, the doctors concluded that my body had suffered too much damage. Even if I recovered, I’d never be able to have children again. I didn’t react much, while my best friend kept feeling sorry for me.”

By the time Jordan arrived, it was already past midnight. My friend had fallen asleep, curled up against my hospital bed. He stood by the window, staring out for a long, long time. Then, the horizon began to glow with the first light of dawn and he silently placed a signed divorce agreement on the table and left for the airport
