“If you
f you touch me again, I swear I’ll make you regret it!” Stephanie threatened.
Kayla stepped right in front of her, chin held high. “You killed my dog. What do you think I should do about that?” “It’s just an animal!” Stephanie spat, but before she could say anything else, Kayla slapped her hard across the
face
“You hit me?!” Stephanie couldn’t believe it. No one had dared to lay a finger on her since she moved in.

“I did,” Kayla shot back. “And I’ll keep doing it until you get the message.” She signaled to the nannies to take over and they didn’t hesitate.
A few moments later, Stephanie was begging. “Fine, fine, I won’t say anything else!”
Lionel stood there, frozen, eyes wide. This was the first time he had ever seen Kayla act like this.
Kayla glanced at him, unfazed. “You and Stephanie can move to the nanny’s room,” she said as she turned to head upstairs, feeling a rare sense of satisfaction.
Lionel quickly followed her. “Kayla, what are you talking about? I’m your husband, I should be with you!”
The thought of him touching her made her stomach turn.
She remembered the video Stephanie sent and the cruel things Lionel had said. “You don’t even know how bad her scars are. That tattoo doesn’t cover it. But still, I’d sleep with you, Stephanie “His mocking laughter had been the
last straw.
Kayla stopped, giving him a cold look “Move to the next room. I’m sleeping alone.”
She didn’t have the energy to argue. Lionel didn’t push it, knowing it was pointless.
Meanwhile, Stephanie was pacing and complaining loudly. Lionel could hear her, but he didn’t move.
*Lionel, she’s going to kick us out! What are we going to do? You’ve got to fix this!” Stephanie whined.
Annoyed, Lionel turned to her. ‘Did you tell Kayla about us?” he asked, his voice tight with frustration
It was the first time Stephanie had seen Lionel look like that–cold, furious, like he was ready to snap. Her stomach twisted, but she plastered on a nervous smile.
“Come on, Lionel You know I wouldn’t say anything!” she said, trying to sound casual, though her voice
wavered.
He didn’t buy it. His glare pinned her in place. “You’d better not. If you screw this up, we’re both finished.”
Stephanie felt a shiver run down her spine but quickly nodded. “I wouldn’t, I swear!”
She forced herself to sound confident, trying to convince them both. “It’s fine. We still have the company, don’t we? We just need to figure out how to drain the money before Kayla does something insane. You’ve seen her–who
knows what she’ll do next?”
Lionel didn’t answer right away, just stared ahead as if working out some plan in his head.
Stephanie fidgeted, then blurted out, “Lionel, I really don’t want to sleep in that nanny’s room. Can I stay here
tonight?”
He didn’t even look at her this time. “No. It’s not happening.”
The blunt rejection made her blood boil. She stormed out, slamming the door hard enough to rattle the frame.
By lunchtime, Kayla was already done eating. When the others wandered into the dining room, they found cold
food scattered on the table like an afterthought.
Kayla leaned back in her chair, barely glancing at them. “Leftovers are there if you’re hungry. Go ahead, dig in.”
Stephanie’s face turned red with anger. “Seriously? Who wants your disgusting leftovers anyway!”
Kayla didn’t even flinch, just raised an eyebrow.
Stephanie sneered, her tone sharp. “You think this is your big win? Soon, all of this will be ours and you’ll be left
here all alone in this giant house. Pathetic, isn’t it?”
Kayla smirked as Lionel’s phone buzzed. He shot up from his seat, staring at the screen like it had betrayed him.
“What the hell is this? Why did the company cancel my position as general manager?” His voice wavered
between disbelief and panic.
Kayla, unfazed, leaned back in her chair. She couldn’t hide the flicker of amusement in her eyes. “Because you’re not cut out for it,” she said, her tone casual, almost bored.
