She looked at him pitifully, almost wanting to lean into his arms.
Blake’s expression changed at her words, and he pushed her away like she was something dirty. Then, he grabbed a napkin and started wiping the wine off me. He looked upset as he asked, “How did you end up getting wine all over you when I was only away for a minute?”
Lila was taken aback by his words and actions. Only then did she realize he wasn’t there for her, but for

Chapter 5
In the next second, she raised her wine glass and angry smashed it on the floor, sending the shards flying. They flew in every direction, and I immediately lunged forward to shield Wanda.
One shard had flown toward her face, but it now cut my shoulder. The blood splattered over her face.
Everyone watched with bated breaths and pale faces. Wanda’s special assistant was the first to snap to her senses and call an ambulance.
I clutched my shoulder, looking pained. Blake pursed his lips and hurriedly retrieved a first aid kit with trembling hands.
Wanda was still dazed after having blood splatter on her face. She looked at me dazedly. Then, she turned and slapped Lila hard.
