I tentatively asked him what was wrong.
That was when his eyes turned red. He even clutched his chest, looking scared. “I don’t care what you’re thinking, but don’t ever put yourself in danger anymore. Didn’t it occur to you that the people around you would worry about you?”
I blinked dazedly. Then, my heart warmed. I was an orphan, so I rarely received kindness from others. Blake’s words were so heartwarming that they felt odd to me. Ultimately, I promised him that I would never put myself in danger anymore. He only relented after that.
After moving into the Lawson residence, I found that fila had been locked inside the study to reflect on her mistakes. Despite that, the butler still brought her soup daily. It was the one that had been laced with the slow–acting poison.
She was unaware of this, though. She even wept and said, “Mom treats me so well, yet she still punished me. It’s all Holly’s fault!”
She had no idea who was the one who was actually harming her. She was as foolish as I’d been in my past life.
My time at the Lawson residence was idyllic, and my wound recovered well.
One day, Wanda stayed late at the office for work and Had yet to return despite the late hour. I left a light on downstairs and sat on the couch to wait for her.
She was taken aback when she saw me as soon as she returned. Then, she sat across from me and pulled out a document from her bag. “Tell me what you think about this.”
I knew this was her final test for me. The document she showed me was top secret–there couldn’t be more than five people in the company who’d seen it.

Chapter 6
This was one of the financial crises Lawson Group faced. It had also happened in my past life.
I pondered the matter for a while before giving Wanda a proposal. In tny past life, Lawson Group had hired a group of financial experts to come up with a proposal to resolve the issue–I remembered it and told Wanda about it.
She gave me a meaningful look but didn’t say anything. In the end, she headed upstairs with the proposal I’d given her.
Half a month later, Lawson Group made it through the crisis without spending a dime on hiring any experts or making any losses. Media outlets reported on this matter, claiming that Wanda had created a miracle.
Wanda came to pick me up from college. In the car, she joked about me being the company’s miracle. Then, she looked at me seriously and asked, “Do you want to be Lawson Group’s heiress?”
She didn’t ask me whether I wanted to be her adoptive daughter. She wanted me to be her company’s next leader. I knew this meant I’d passed her test of loyalty and capabilities. My fish had taken the bait.
I blinked before nodding seriously.
Wanda held a press conference. As the lights flashed, she announced that I was Lawson Group’s heiress. A journalist said, “You previously announced that your adoptive daughter, Lila Lawson, would be your heiress. Now, you’re saying that Ms. Holly York is Lawson Group’s heiress. Aren’t those conflicting announcements?”
Wanda said firmly, “Lila will no longer be the Lawson family’s heiress. Holly will be the only person who will take over the company.”
The nation was stunned by this announcement. Lila had become a discarded pawn, and I had come out
on top.
Lila was grounded at home, though. She had no idea of this change and still thought she was an heiress.
