Now that I had Blake to guide me, my grades skyrocketed. I became one of the top scorers in the school. He told me it wasn’t enough, though. I was only just getting started.
I threw myself into my studies, using every second of the day to revise, do mock exams, and learn from my mistakes.
On the day of the SATS, I answered the questions seriously, knowing that I held my fate in my hands. Mr. Stone had already made a full recovery after I sat for the SATs. I knew Blake had to return to college after that.
As we parted, he said to me, “I’ll pick you up at the bus station on the first day of the semester.”
I pouted. “How are you so sure that I’ll get into Cordon College? It’s the best college in the country,”

He blinked, “I know it’ll happen because I have faith in myself.”
As he predicted, I knew my future was set when I got my grades. I scored 1510 out of 1600 and was the pride of my school.
After a break, I bid the orphanage’s principal and Mr. Stone goodbye. Then, I embarked on my new journey.
On the first day of the semester, the college had a welcoming ceremony for freshmen. I saw two familiar figures in the auditorium–Wanda and Lila.
It had been a year since I’d last seen them. I watched as Lila trailed Blake, who was the head of the student council. She kept trying to curry favor with him.
Her eyes widened when she saw me. She and her lackeys dragged me into the restroom.
She was dressed in branded clothes from head to toe, and her makeup was done exquisitely. She looked at me haughtily and asked, “What are you doing here, you peasant? Don’t tell me you came here to get a job because you couldn’t get into college. Are you here as a canteen lady or a dorm matron?
“The Lawson family donated a few buildings to the college, so it has the right to affect some of the college’s decisions. If you get on your knees and beg me to help you, I’ll get you a job as a janitor, seeing as we’ve known each other for so long. What say you?”
Her lackeys–she’d bought them over with money–laughed mockingly.
I couldn’t help feeling sad for her when I saw how obnoxious and ignorant she was. Despite being reborn, she hadn’t become any smarter. Vying for attention and being jealous and mocking was all she knew.
The welcoming ceremony was about to begin, so I didn’t want to get into a fight with her. I put on a scared and lowly act.
She was disappointed that her mockery hadn’t had the intended effect. She mocked me a bit more before letting me go.
supposed it came as a surprise to her to see me appear on stage as the freshman representative when she thought I hadn’t gotten into college.
I smiled confidently and said, “Good afternoon, everyone. My name is Holly York, and I’m the freshman representative.”
There was a loud crash off stage. Lila had shot to her feet, making her chair fall over in her shock. She stared at me with wide eyes, her lips parted slightly in disbelief.
Wanda gave her a slightly reproachful look. That made her sit down dazedly. She was still incredulous, though.
In her past life, she’d only gotten into a regular college after sitting for the SATS, Our results had always been equally mediocre, so she couldn’t believe that I’d gotten into the top college in the country after just a year of hard work.

This discrepancy made her expression darken.
I felt an appraising gaze land on me when I mentioned majoring in economics,
It was Wanda.
