Babinsk Chanting the Grooms,
Chapter 13
Chapter 13
With Chad’s words, the old Mr. Spencer felt at ease and left the room with Hall’s parents.
The living room was now filled only with members of the Spencer family.
Chad sat in the main seat, overlooking the three people still kneeling on the floor. His tone was devoid of any
emotion.
“Xena, I remember you’re quite eloquent. Why don’t you, as the representative of Xena’s family, explain everything
clearly?”
Facing the head of the Spencer family, whose mere presence made everyone around him tremble, Xena felt a deep
fear settle in her heart.
But she also knew this was her only chance there were too many people here for her to lose her footing now.
She wiped her tears away and, still kneeling, recounted everything in detail–how it all started and what had happened.
Upon hearing her account, the Spencer family’s relatives and even the guards and servants standing by the door all exchanged incredulous glances.
It was the 21st century, for heaven’s sake! She was getting dismissed, not kicked out of the world. Was this really
worth making such a spectacle over?
Yet, throughout the entire ordeal, Chad’s expression remained unchanged.
He called for his older brother and sister–in–law to come over and instructed them to summon all the household
staff to gather.
In front of everyone, he asked the servants for their opinions on the dismissal of Xena’s family.
When the topic came up, those who had been silent until now began speaking their minds.
“I think Madam did the right thing! Xena has been flaunting her relationship with the young master, and even threatened us with Madam’s jewelry and clothes, saying that if we told, she’d blame it on the young master!”
“I agree, it’s time they were let go! Aunt Sara is always boasting that her daughter is going to ‘soar to the top.‘ She pushes all the blame onto us and even tries to get away with being lazy and shirking work!”
“Xena’s father also stole gifts sent by guests. When caught, he said the young master gave him permission. I’ve lost count of how many times this has happened!”
The faces of Xena’s family grew pale as the accusations stacked up one after another.
Charlie, who had been getting more and more anxious, was now visibly disturbed.

The rest of the Spencer family and even the servants stood with faces full of righteous indignation or cold disdain. No one showed any mercy toward Xena’s family.
Jenna, who had been watching the scene unfold with a detached calm, took a sip of tea. There was a flicker of coldness in her eyes.
In her previous life, this scene had played out in much the same way.
But back then, she hadn’t held a wedding, and Chad had been abroad, Charlie hadn’t been with her to offer tea, and instead, he had barged in with Xena’s family in tow.
The elderly Mr. Spencer had been softened by their cries, and he had scolded Charlie’s parents on the spot. Though they had admitted their mistakes, shortly after, they had found an excuse to expel Xena’s family again.
They had even demanded compensation, and Xena’s family had ended up in massive debt.
With nowhere to turn, Xena had been forced to marry her debt collector. Three years into the marriage, her husband had passed away.
That’s when Jenna’s life had taken its fateful turn.
But now, things were different. This time, with Chad in charge, she had faith that things would unfold in a different
manner.
And, as she had expected, things took a different course.
Once Charlie’s parents had clarified everything in front of everyone, Chad delivered the verdict.
“Everyone has heard the testimonies clearly. The physical evidence should still be in Xena’s family’s possession.
Elder brother, sister–in–law, I believe, given the current situation, we should report this as theft and have the stolen items returned and damages compensated. What do you think?”
This simple statement woke everyone up from their stupor.
Charlie’s parents immediately called the police.
At the realization that the stolen and damaged items were worth an astronomical amount, Xena’s father and Aunt Sara lost all composure, collapsing on the ground and kowtowing in desperation.
Shamed and humiliated in front of everyone, Charlie’s parents showed no mercy.
As the sound of police sirens filled the air, Xena crawled toward Charlie, tearfully begging for his help.
But after witnessing everything firsthand, Charlie’s heart no longer had any sympathy.
He looked at Xena with eyes that were cold and unfamiliar.
“This has gone too far. From now on, don’t ever

The words caught in his throat.
He froze, unable to believe his eyes. Xena’s father had rushed into the kitchen and was now holding a knife to his
throat.
“Father!”
Before anyone could react. Aunt Sara, with a look of utter despair, followed suit and slit her own throat.
“Mother!”
The crimson blood splattered across the marble floor, drops of it trickling down in a steady rhythm..
The entire room fell into a stunned silence.
