Chapter 3
In the following days, Jenna locked herself in her room, her eyes red from crying. She didn’t leave the house, not even to step out the back door.
When her parents found out about Charlie’s reckless behavior, they were even more relieved that they hadn’t married their daughter to him.
They were ready to march over to the Spencer family to confront them, but Jenna, who had been cooped up for several days, stopped them.
The wedding was drawing near, and she didn’t want any more trouble.
After persuading her parents, she finally left the house, holding a design draft in her hand.
During these days of confinement, she wasn’t upset about Charlie; he was already a stranger to her. Her concerns were no longer about him.
What kept her locked away was the fact that she had been designing a wedding ring for Chad.
She knew the “Pick the Star” ring was priceless, so she decided to put her heart into designing something that would match his feelings for her.
She handed the design to the butler, asking him to find a master craftsman to carve and create it.
But when the promised time passed and the ring still hadn’t arrived, Jenna went to inquire. That’s when she learned that a few days ago, Charlie had come by, chosen the ring, and taken it with him.
He’d even left a simple note: “It’s mine anyway, don’t bother Jenna to come pick it up.”
The staff, well aware of the marriage alliance between the Hall and Spencer families, hadn’t stopped him.
Jenna’s heart sank
She immediately went to the Spencer family to get the ring back.
As soon as she entered, she saw Xena sitting among a pile of parcels, acting coquettishly..
“Master, you cleared out my shopping cart again, didn’t you? You’re so good to me, how could I ever repay you?”
“I’m happy, you don’t need to repay me. Also, how many times have I told you? Don’t call me Master.”
Xena hesitated and then shyly called him, “Charlie.”
Seeing them exchange affectionate looks, Jenna didn’t even blink. She walked straight in.
When Charlie heard the footsteps, he turned around and frowned when he saw her.
“What are you doing here?”

“You took my wedding ring. I want it back.”
Charlie raised an eyebrow at her outstretched hand.
“It’s gone.”
Jenna’s gaze hardened, and her voice became more forceful. “Gone? What do you mean gone?”
Before Charlie could come up with a reason, Xena, sitting on the floor, timidly spoke up.
“Hall, I saw on the internet that wedding rings are the easiest to open with when unboxing packages. So, I used it to open a few hundred packages. The ring got scratched. Do you still want it?”
With that, she opened her palm to reveal the ring, now marred with scratches.
Charlie had taken her wedding ring and used it to open packages for Xena?!
A wave of fury surged through Jenna, spreading through every inch of her body.
She could no longer hold back her emotions. Her eyes were bloodshot as she glared at the two of them, her voice icy with anger.
“Charlie, who gave you the right to take my things? And you, Xena–how dare you ruin it like this? Do you not know what respect means?!”
Seeing her fall apart over the ring, Charlie’s good mood was completely ruined. His tone grew impatient.
“The ring was given to me by you in the first place. What’s the big deal? Why are you making such a fuss?”
“Oh, and by the way, I’ve decided we won’t have a wedding ceremony. So your design for the ring is useless. Don’t waste your efforts.”
Jenna clenched her fists, her anger boiling over at his dismissive attitude. She repeated firmly, “Charlie, that ring is
not for you!”
“Not for me? Then who is it for? Jenna, enough already, you’ve gone too far with this act!”
As he mocked her, Charlie casually tossed the ring aside and pulled Xena toward the door.
“Don’t waste time arguing with her. Xena, didn’t you say you wanted to learn how to drive a few days ago? Let me teach you.
Watching them leave, Jenna’s heart was filled with rage and helplessness. She wanted to chase after them, but she was physically drained, unable to move. Instead, she dropped to the ground, desperately searching for the ring.
It took her a full half hour to find it in the flowerbed.
After carefully placing it into her pocket, she didn’t hesitate for a moment. She turned and walked away. There was no time to start over now; she could only find someone to repair it and see if it could be restored to its original form.
Chapter 3
Just as she stepped outside the villa, she heard a strange sound.
Looking up, she saw a car barreling straight toward her. Her eyes widened in shock.
with a loud bang, she was sent flying ten meters away, landing in a pool of blood.
Xena, feigning panic, got out of the car and cried out, “Oh no! I just learned to drive, and I accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake! What do we do? Jenna’s bleeding so much, Charlie, will she be okay?”

Charlie furrowed his brows at the sight of the blood–stained steps. He gently held Xena in his arms and reassured her. “It’s fine. She always likes to play the victim.
She’s just acting. Don’t worry, Xena. Once the act is over, she’ll wake up. Don’t be scared, and don’t cry.”
In her dazed state. Jenna heard these words and felt a coldness seep through her body. Her tears finally fell.
Charlie, I thought, even if you didn’t love me, after all these years of being childhood friends, at least you would have a little bit of affection for me.
But now, for the sake of comforting Xena, you could completely disregard my life.
Why did I ever fall for you in my past life?
She struggled to reach for her phone, wanting to call for help, but the strength drained from her body. The darkness swallowed her up completely.
When she finally opened her eyes again, it was the next day.
Before she could fully adjust to her surroundings, the doctor entered the room with the medical chart. He spoke in a
stern tone.
“Why didn’t you get her to the hospital sooner after the accident? You let her bleed this much before bringing her in–this is reckless!”
Recalling the scene before she lost consciousness, Jenna moved her lips, but only a bitter laugh escaped. She didn’t know how to answer him.
Should she tell him that her childhood friend had been too busy comforting another woman to care about her life?
The doctor didn’t press further, only continuing. “Where’s your husband? He needs to take care of your admission procedures.”
Still groggy from the anesthesia, Jenna instinctively blurted out, “He’s abroad.”
Before the words had even finished, the door to her room was pushed open.
Charlie stood there, looking at her with a fixed gaze. “Who’s abroad?!”
