Chapter 8
Under the spotlight. Chad appeared in a well- tailored black suit, his presence commanding attention.
He adjusted his gold rimmed glasses and gave a slight nod to the audience, his piercing, cold eyes sweeping over the crowd, sending an immediate sense of pressure throughout the rooin.
The entire hall fell silent. Not a single sound could be heard.
The guests froze in disbelief, stunned by the sight before them. No one had expected that the groom for the grand Spencer Hall family marriage would be Chad!
The audience watching the live stream was also frozen in shock, unable to move, their expressions blank.
Charlie gritted his teeth, veins bulging on his forehead, and his voice trembled with fury.
“Uncle? No way!”
“This must be some mistake!“
The moment those words escaped his lips, everyone in the room snapped back to reality, quickly muttering in
agreement.
“Yeah, yeah! It must be a mistake by the host! How could President Spencer marry Jenna? They’re from different generations!”
“Jenna doesn’t even want Charlie, how could she deserve President Spencer? It’s all a misunderstanding, just a misunderstanding!”
But while everyone continued to deny the truth, Chad had already reached the center of the stage.
The ceremony continued without a hitch, and the vows were next.
“Mr. Chad, do you take Miss Jenna to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and honor her, in wealth and poverty, in youth and age, to be by her side for life?”
When Chad solemnly said, “I do,” the room fell into a profound silence.
Everyone was left with their mouths hanging open, eyes wide in disbelief, struggling to comprehend what was happening.
Charlie’s mind went completely blank, his blood running cold. He grabbed a car key in a daze, swept a table of drinks off with one motion, and stormed out.
Ignoring the shouts behind him, Charlie was consumed by a single thought.
Jenna is my fiancée! She can only marry me!!
She cannot marry my uncle!

With his foot on the gas pedal, he sped through red lights, tearing through the city. By the time he reached the venue, the wedding was nearly over.
The guests had already started to leave, and only the close family members from both sides remained.
He immediately spotted Jenna in the center of the crowd, laughing and chatting with everyone. He rushed up to her, grabbing her wrist in a panic.
“Come with me!”
Before Jenna could respond, both families started speaking up.
“Charlie, what are you doing? The wedding between your uncle and Jenna is over, why did you show up so late?”
“Jenna and Chad still have to go back to the old house to serve tea! What’s this disturbance?”
“Charlie, let go of her! You’ve caused enough trouble before, but today is your uncle’s wedding! If you keep this up.
I’ll deal with you!”
Despite his relatives scolding him, Charlie remained stubborn, his grip tightening on her wrist.
Jenna’s skin turned red where his fingers pressed, and she frowned slightly, about to speak when a deep, magnetic voice interrupted from behind her.
“Let go.”
It was only two words, but Charlie froze, as though electrocuted. His hand instantly released its grip.
He didn’t dare turn around, stumbling a few steps backward.
“Uncle.”
Chad didn’t respond, and the crowd parted automatically, creating a path for him. He walked directly to Jenna, lifted her hand gently, and massaged it, his gaze briefly flicking to Charlie.
“This is your Aunt.”
The air seemed to freeze.
Charlie’s entire body tensed at the word Aunt.
The resistance to the term, that deep–seated discomfort, surged within him. Yet, under Chad’s overwhelming presence, he couldn’t help but shudder. A sense of primal fear, buried deep in his blood, stirred, making his hair stand on end.
With a barely audible voice, he reluctantly uttered the word.
“Aunt”
In front of both families, Jenna responded with poise, her voice clear and steady.

“From now on, we’re family.”
Each word fell like a heavy stone in Charlie’s heart.
He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles whitened, eyes fixed on the scene before him.
Jenna could feel the anger and unwillingness radiating from him, but she didn’t care.
She looped her arm through Chad’s and, with a bright smile, turned to ask him about their next plans.
Chad glanced at his watch, then looked back up at her, his typically stern eyes softening ever so slightly.
“The flight was delayed during the transfer, so the tea ceremony in the morning was skipped.
According to tradition, we should go to the old mansion and make it up, but you’ve had a long day. These formalities can wait until tomorrow. Let’s head home and you can rest for now, if that’s alright with you?”
Upon hearing this, the elders of the Spencer family couldn’t help but tease.
“Wow, getting married really does change a man. He’s already pampering his wife!”
We always thought Chad was all business, but look at him, speaking so tenderly!”
With the youngest son now married, the entire family gathered together, and the Spencer patriarch, his face glowing with satisfaction, waved his hand and spoke aloud.
“As long as you two respect each other and live happily, we don’t need to worry about this tea ceremony! Jenna got up early to get ready, she’s certainly exhausted. Let’s not disturb the newlyweds, everyone can go home now!”
Amid the teasing. Chad took Jenna’s hand and led her away from the venue.
Watching the two walk further away, Charlie’s clenched fists trembled, the sound of his knuckles cracking echoing through the empty room.
Once the crowd had dispersed, all the pent–up anger and anguish inside him finally exploded.
“What’s going on?! The Spencer–Hall family marriage… wasn’t I supposed to marry Jenna?!”
His sudden outburst startled his parents, who had been backing in the joy of the wedding. They glared at him with visible displeasure.
“What are you yelling about now? Half a month ago, when the Hall family came to visit, your uncle and Aunt Hall specifically requested you marry your little uncle. They never mentioned your name, so how could it possibly be you?”
“Then why was I sent to bring her here for the wedding?” Charlie shot back, his voice rising in frustration.
