Chapter 16
During a meeting. Victor suddenly paused when he received a text message, causing a stir among the senior executives. Who was this person with such influence to interrupt them? Victor paid no mind to the surprised glances around him; he found Eleanor’s tone a bit pitiful. Without hesitation, he replied. “Hang in there, I’ll pick you up later”
Eleanor couldn’t help but smile at the word “hang.” It was hard to imagine what Victor looked like when he said it. The gleam in her eyes resembled that of a crescent moon. Yet, Celeste’s assistant, watching through the rearview mirror, shot Eleanor a mocking look. She thought Eleanor was in for a ride awakening.
Eleanor was well aware of the animosity directed at her, but she forced herself to disregard their judgment. After texting Victor, she sent another message to her manager. “Seraphinx, Percival wants me to go to the hospital to take care of Celeste. I’m almost there: are you ready?”
“It’s evident to anyone that that little gold digger Celeste is trying to humiliate you. She thinks she still has the clout for that. I’ve got everything set on my end, and it’s going to be spectacular… complete with photos and videos.”
“Feel free to post the photos… just hold off on the video for now. We need to give Percival and Celeste a chance to squirm first.”
“I get it; we’ll wait until it gets really awkward before dropping the final evidence, the knockout punch, Seraphina repbed, her excitement palpable. “I want to see Celeste crash spectacularly right at the pinnacle of her arrogancs. And Eleanor, even with all the backlash you’re facing, there are still voices supporting you. That’s some good news amidst the chaos…”
“Seraphina, please be cautious.”
After sending this message, Eleanor deleted her conversation with her manager, a subtle smile gracing her lips.
In a laxurious hospital room, Celeste sat weakly on her bed, ber eyes shining with anticipation at the thought of soon humillating Eleanor
She could hardly believe that the foolish Eleanor had gone ahead and taken the fall for her–boosting her profile and landing the endorsement deal with Heavens Arts. “Celeste, Eleanor is almost here. You both need to record a live video, three minutes long. I’ll have the doctor help you with the bandaging, and then we can have Eleanor wch your feet”
“I’ve been waiting for this day Celeste remarked with a sly grim. She had endured Eleanor a stifling presence long enough and now, she intended to rise higher and keep Flexor beneath her heel. All she wanted was to flaunt her relationship with Percival openly, to become the First Lady of Heavens Arts.
“From now on, you’ll be getting even more opportunities, especially with the Model of the Year awards coming up. There’s no doubt you’ll be selected, and then… you’ll be one step closer to becoming a high–profile model.”
Celeste maintained a deceptive smile, her dreams seemingly boundless as her confidence surged over higher…
