I Am His Wolfless Luna
Chapter 28
Aria’s POV
“Mom! Wake up! We’re going to be late!”
Lucas’s urgent voice dragged me from a fitful sleep, his small hands shaking my shoulder insistently. The morning sunlight stabbed at my eyes as I forced them open, finding my son’s forest–green gaze fixed on me with worry, I remember Ethan dropping me off last night, but we didn’t seem to say anything along the way. I made sure Lucas was sleeping peacefully in his bedroom, and I fell head over heels into bed and slept until morning.
“Are you sick?” He pressed his cool palm against my forehead, mimicking what I often did when he wasn’t feeling well. The gesture, so innocent and caring, made my throat tight. “You’re really warm.
“Just tired, baby,” I managed, though my body screamed in protest as I pushed myself to sitting position. The remnants of Jack’s drugged tea still coursed through my system, making every muscle feel like lead. But far worse than the physical discomfort were the memories flooding back – the hospital room, Ethan’s hands on my skin, the way I’d practically begged
him…
I swallowed hard, forcing those thoughts away. ‘Mom stayed up too late working on training schedules,” I lied, hating how easily the deception came. But what else could I say? That I’d been drugged by another alpha? That I’d ended up in bed with Shadow Fang’s heir?
My hands trembled as I helped Lucas dress and pack his school bag. Each movement felt like swimming through molasses, my body still heavy with the aftereffects of last night.
“Your lunch is packed,” I said, checking his backpack one last time. ‘Remember, Aunt Zoe will pick you up after school today. Mom has a late training session.”
–
Another lie. In truth, I couldn’t face picking him up looking like this pale, shaky, with dark circles under my eyes that even makeup couldn’t fully conceal. My son was too perceptive for his age; he’d know something was wrong.
After dropping Lucas at school, I made my way to the training facility. Each step required conscious effort, like learning to walk all over again. The cool morning air did little to clear my head, which still buzzed with fragments of last night – Ethan’s touch, his scent, the way he’d looked at me….
The sound of giggling stopped me outside the women’s locker room. A cluster of young she–wolves huddled around the mirrors, their excited whispers carrying clearly through the partly open door.
“Did you see Alpha Heir Ethan’s neck this morning? One voice practically squealed. “Those marks definitely weren’t there at the ball!”
“Someone got lucky last night, another chimed in. “But who? He left right after that scene with the Silver Moon princess…”
–
Heat flooded my cheeks as more memories surfaced my lips on Ethan’s throat, marking him in my drug–induced haze. My fingers curled into fists as I remembered other details: the perfect fit of our bodies, the sounds he’d made, the way he’d whispered my name…
‘Instructor Reynolds.”
I nearly jumped out of my skin at David’s voice. Shadow Fang’s Beta stood at the end of the hallway, his expression carefully neutral. But I caught the way his nostrils flared slightly – could he smell Ethan’s scent on me? Did everyone know?
“The Alpha heir requests your presence. Immediately.”
The walk to Ethan’s office felt endless. My heart slammed against my ribs with each step, my palms growing damp with nervous sweat. What would I say to him? How could I face him after last night?
David opened the door, and Ethan’s scent hit me like a physical force – pine needles and mountain air, now intimately familiar. He stood by the window, his broad shoulders tense beneath his tailored shirt. When he turned, those forest–green eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made my breath catch. The marks on his neck were clearly visible above his collar, a stark reminder of what we’d done.
‘Close the door, David.” His deep voice sent shivers down my spine – the same voice that had whispered such tender things last night. Once we were alone, he spoke again, his tone carefully controlled.
“We need to discuss your relationship with Leo.”
The question blindsided me. After everything that had happened, this was what he wanted to discuss? “Leo is a friend,” I said firmly, clinging to this safe topic. ‘Nothing more.”
“A friend who buys you silver ballgowns?‘ He moved closer, his alpha presence making the air feel thick, “Who’s supported you and Lucas for years? Who takes you to formal events?‘
Anger flared in my chest, burning away some of my uncertainty. ‘Yes, exactly that kind of friend. The kind who helped me rebuild my life when everyone else turned their backs on me. The kind who never asked for anything in return.”
And last night?” His voice dropped lower, making my skin prickle with awareness. “Was that nothing too?”
‘Last night was a mistake.” The words felt like broken glass in my throat, but I forced them out anyway, ‘I was drugged, you were being noble, and things got out of hand. It’s better if we just forget it happened.”
“Is that what you want? He stepped closer still, until I could feel the heat radiating from his body. My treacherous heart raced at his proximity, remembering how those strong hands had felt on my skin. To forget how perfectly you fit in my arms? How right it felt when-

‘Stop. I held up a hand between us, desperately trying to maintain some distance. The memory of his touch was too fresh, too dangerous. I’m here as an instructor, nothing more. What happened last night… it can’t happen again.”
“Why not?‘ His voice dropped to that rough whisper that had undone me last night.
‘Because I have a son to think about!” The words burst from me, sharp with desperation. “And you also have your girlfriend. A fling? A mistake? I didn’t even know what to call it.
Finally, Ethan stepped back, his expression shuttering closed. “You’re right,” he said formally, though his eyes still burned with something I didn’t dare name. “It won’t happen again. You may return to your duties, Instructor Reynolds.”
The door clicked shut behind me, and I leaned against it for a moment, struggling to catch my breath. Through the solid wood, I could hear something crash inside his office – probably his famous temper getting the better of him.
