Chapter 22
Joyce closed the suitcase and carried it to the door.
Audrey gazed at her with a face full of gossip.
“Do you remember that Elianna?”
Elianna? Joyce only knew that she seemed to have returned to Fallcrest with her ex–husband.
She had no time to concern herself with the subsequent situation.
Audrey slid her phone screen and opened Fallcrest News, displaying it in front of Joyce.
“Elianna lost her child.”
Joyce widened her eyes in astonishment and learned, after browsing through the news, that Elianna’s life had not been going well since she returned to her home country.
Although supported by her ex–husband behind her back, the Baker family did not like Elianna. She
felt immense pressure and accidentally fell down the stairs.
At that time, there were rumors circulating about Chaim’s involvement with other women.
Multiple factors intertwined, and the two individuals once again erupted into a dispute.
What would happen next, they did not know.
Audrey put away her phone. The Holloway family had a good relationship with the Baker family.
When Elianna found out about her relationship with Joyce, she asked Audrey to help her apologize
to Joyce.
Joyce did not speak.
When the news of Joyce’s return to Faymont spread, many friends invited her to have a farewell
gathering.
After the dinner party, she stood by the roadside hailing a taxi when a honk caught her attention
“Joyce, get in the car.”
She instinctively frowned upon seeing the person entering the car.
However, Zander seemed determined and was not moved by the traffic jam that occurred after she
got in the car.
Joyce had no choice but to get in the car.
Zander just smiled at her and started the car.
Silence filled the car as they arrived at their destination without uttering a word.

After Joyce said thank you, she wanted to get out of the car, but Zander suddenly called her name.

Joyce’s hand paused slightly, and she looked at him with confusion.
“Joyce, if, I mean if, my mom didn’t make you sign that agreement and Elianna didn’t come back, could we have stayed together?”
He looked at Joyce, his eyes filled with almost tangible struggle and unwillingness.
Joyce, however, was amused by his words and said clearly, “Impossible, unless you have never
loved Elianna.”
Her indifferent expression clearly came into his sight.
“Setting aside these, we would not have good results either.”
As a husband, you knew nothing about me. You didn’t know my eating habits, my phone number, or
even remember my preferences. You ignored me, treated me as if I were nothing. You didn’t really
love me at all, you were just used to having someone take care of you.
True love means being consistent, remembering everything about me, being willing to eliminate
all obstacles, supporting me, trusting me, protecting me, and being willing to listen to me. It means
not staying silent in the face of misunderstandings and difficulties, but choosing to stand by my
side.
“You couldn’t do any of these either.”
The pampered scion only knew how to constantly demand love, but did not understand how to love
others.
If Zander had understood even a little, they would not have reached such an irreparable point now.
