It has been a few years since I last came back, and my hometown has already undergone some 

changes. 

The exterior walls of the old residential area were repainted, and the neighbors also became new 

faces. 

Only the street in front of the door remained as lively as before, and in the evening, the air was filled with the smell of barbecue and beer. 

I bought a bunch of vegetables and planned to cook a good meal to reward myself. 

Lucas had a weak stomach and couldn’t eat spicy food. Over the years, I have always accommodated. his taste and rarely ate spicy dishes that I liked. 

I was sitting on the bus, calculating how many dishes to cook tonight, when suddenly someone sat 

down next to me! 

I was startled and looked up, only to find a young boy wearing a black hoodie, his head lowered and his face unclear. His black hair was damp with cold sweat, sticking to his forehead, as he leaned against me, slanting. 

A faint smell of tobacco mixed with the refreshing scent of lemon, lingering vaguely at the tip of my nose in the stuffy train compartment. 

“Sorry–” 

He opened his mouth weakly and said, “I have low blood sugar, do you have any sugar?” I hurriedly 

tore open the bag of white sugar that I had bought from the supermarket to cook with. 

“Is this okay?” 

He looked at the sugar in the palm of my hand and smiled helplessly. 

“Okay.” 

He lowered his head slightly as he spoke. 

The slightly cool lips separated from my palm, and my face turned red. I quickly stood up and helped him back to his seat. 

“You sat, you sat.” 

The boy grabbed the bag of white sugar and took a few bites, then he looked up. 

The slightly curled bangs revealed a pair of dark and mysterious eyes. After the faint weakness and paleness subsided, a hint of mischief appeared in the slightly raised corners of the eyes and 

eyebrows.

just realized that this was a very good–looking boy, probably in his early twenties, with a narrow and straight nose bridge. His single eyelid might be too thin, revealing a faint pinkish color. 

However, the eyelashes were too long and thick, sharp like a blade at the corner of the

“Is it you? So you are the new neighbor who just moved in?” 

I nodded my head and said, “What a coincidence.” 

After thinking for a moment, he greeted, “Are you feeling better?” 

He smiled and said, “Nothing much, just got busy today and forgot to eat.” 

I didn’t want to say it originally, but seeing that he was young, I couldn’t help but advise, “When you’re young, you should eat well, otherwise your stomach will develop problems.” 

He looked rebellious, but obediently nodded his head. 

“Okay.” 

“What’s that smell? It smells so good. Are you cooking?” 

“Well, but now I had to go buy some white sugar–‘ 

I watched him sniffing around like a little dog, and said, “It smells so good. What did you cook?” 

“Um…” 

I politely said, “Would you like to try the tofu fish head soup and a few home–cooked dishes?” 

Actually, I was just being polite, but I didn’t expect his eyes to suddenly curve up and he asked, “Is it possible?” 

“Um, well, okay.” 

“Then I went to buy white sugar.‘

He took the shopping bag from my hand and walked away, with one hand in his pocket and the other 

hand waving at me, saying, “You stay and watch the fire, I’ll be right back.” 

And so, I don’t know how it happened, but on the first day I came back, I sat around the table eating with the boy from the neighbor’s house.
