Chapter 9
was watching a TV drama in the living room when I received a call from Kelly.
The rain on a summer night poured down vigorously, with raindrops hitting the glass, shattering and winding, turning into streaks of water marks.
Nini was lying next to me, snoring softly.
“Helen.”
She said, “Let’s talk.”
I was eating the durian that Neil had bought, and couldn’t help but frown.
What is there for me to talk to you about?”
“What’s the point of clinging onto him if you had already decided to divorce him?”
“Or are you just playing hard to get, and planning to back out?”
“I didn’t know what you were saying.”
I was about to hang up the phone, but Kelly got angry and said, “What are you pretending? If it weren’t for you bothering him, how could Lucas suddenly become cold towards me these days?”
“I told you, it’s useless for you to do this! Do you know how he talked about you to me before? He said you would just revolve around him all day long, and he had long been tired of it. He said being with me reminded him of his younger days and that he was happy being with me.‘

I couldn’t help but sneer, “Oh? If he likes you so much, why don’t you go find him?”
“What about others?”
The door was suddenly knocked, and I thought it was the bubble tea I just ordered. I walked to the
door wearing slippers to open it.
Kelly didn’t say anything and after a while, she gritted her teeth and said, “He went to look for y Are you satisfied now?”
“Helen, it was useless for you to snatch him back. Soon, he would grow tired of you again. If he can cheat once, he can cheat twice or even three times. Sooner or later, he will realize who he truly
likes!”
She spoke so shamelessly; it truly opened my eyes.
However, I didn’t think Lucas would come to find me. We have been apart for so long and he hasn’t contacted me. I didn’t feel like getting involved with Kelly either, so I spat out a few words to her. “Stop talking nonsense. If you don’t mind the stench, I still find it disgusting.”

And then he hung up the phone.
However,
However, at the moment the door opened, I was stunned.
Lucas stood outside, completely drenched, with not a trace of color on his lips, and looked straight at me, in a very disheveled state.
He actually came. “What are you here for?” I was a bit puzzled.
“Divorce agreement, I just need you to mail it to me, you don’t have to personally deliver it, right?”
Lucas looked at me for a long time and suddenly said, “Helen, come back.”
I suddenly felt absurd.
After
a year of arguing, six months of cold war, and two months of divorce tug–of–war.
He suddenly appeared in front of my door and asked me to go back.
“You’re sick, aren’t you?” I didn’t want to say much, so I was about to hang up.
The neighbor aunt upstairs happened to come down. “Oh, how did it suddenly rain? My electric bike is still outside!” She noticed Lucas at a glance and asked cautiously, “Helen, who is this person?”
“I’m telling you, that guy who was following you and broke into your door earlier got caught by the police, I heard he’s already been detained,” she stared at Lucas, her words carrying a warning.
My heart warmed. “This is my friend from before.” “Thank you, Karli.”
“Oh, that’s good.”
Karli turned around and saw Lucas’s face, the doubt on his face disappeared in an instant, his eyes lit up. “Oh Helen, your friend is really good–looking, does she have a partner? My niece–”
“He has already gotten married.”
“Oh.” Karli pursed her lips and reluctantly glanced at Lucas before leaving.
“What a pity.”
Lucas leaned against the door, looking somewhat bewildered, and asked, “Was what you said that day true? Did someone really break into your door?”
I raised my head coldly and asked, “What else?”
“I thought you were…” his expression was somewhat complicated.

“Give it up.
