Chapter 15
‘The boy’s words seemed to echo in my ears.
Just ten years later, everything had changed.
Lucas stared blankly at the piece of paper in his hand, as if he had been frozen in place by the
swirling snowflakes, unable to move a muscle.
After a long time, his fingertips began to tremble, and when he lifted his head, tears fell straight
down.
“Helen,” he said, his voice filled with bitterness and pain.
“I knew what you wanted.”
I smiled, tore up the note, and casually threw it into the wind and snow.
The shredded paper was blown up by the wind, spinning and whistling as it scattered, never to be
seen again.
Back then, I never could have imagined that our seven–year marriage would end in such a
miserable and tragic manner.
The promises made in youth, like arrows shot from a bow, pierced through the years and struck the
heart.
Ten years ago, Helen, your wish did not come true.
Lucas and I, we are going to separate now.
I clapped my hands, stood up and said, “Let’s go.”
Lucas, however, grabbed me and knelt in the snow.
He pleaded, “Helen, please. Give me another chance, I swear I will never hurt you again.”
He choked back tears and lowered his head, as his tears fell onto the snowy ground, melting a small
pit.
“Don’t leave me…”
I stood with my hands in my pockets, calmly watching him.
Lucas, don’t do this.
“It was so ugly.”
had already walked far away, but when I turned back, Lucas was still kneeling in the snow.
Snowflakes fell on him.

⚫ Neil disappeared.
One day, I completely lost contact with him.
Just like how he suddenly appeared in my life, he suddenly disappeared again on a snowy day, and I
haven’t seen him since then.
I was feeling uncomfortable for a while, but after all, I had already gone through that experience with Lucas, and considering that I hadn’t known Neil for too long, I gradually let go.
I think, considering his young age, the words he said at that time were probably just a momentary impulse. We were never meant to be people from the same world, and after a brief encounter, we
should return to our own lives.
Fortunately, my restaurant finally opened, and the storefront is called Scott Diner.
I planned to expand in the future and change the name to Scott Restaurant.
The guests praised my skills endlessly, and within just a few days, the restaurant had a constant stream of customers. There were even some who helped me promote on social media for free.
The store became busier and busier, so I had no choice but to hire two more people to help with the
work.
Slowly, I also rarely thought about Neil.
Sometimes, when I came home, I would see that door that had never been opened again, and I
would still be a little stunned.

Until that day, I had been busy all day and when I got home, I suddenly froze when I opened the
door.
Neil was wearing an apron, carrying Nini on his shoulder, and he peeked out and smiled at me.
“Are you back?”
I felt a bit dazed, as if I had been transported back to six months ago when we were still in the best
phase of our relationship.
“You-”
Neil pursed his lips and walked over to me, embracing me tightly. This hug was so strong, as if he wanted to squeeze me into his body.
He buried his face in the hollow of my shoulder.
“Sorry.

That day, my dad suddenly sent someone to bring me back. He said his health was failing and insisted on forcing me to return for a marriage alliance and to inherit the family business.
“I didn’t want to, so he had someone snatch my phone away, locked me inside the house, and said he would only let me out when I changed my mind.”
“I–I have always wanted to get in touch with you, I tried running a few times.”
He rolled up his trousers, revealing the terrifying scars on his calves, and chuckled bitterly, “I had climbed down from upstairs before, but I still got caught in the end.”
I was a bit stunned and instinctively reached out to touch those scars, “Does it still hurt?”
Neil’s gaze softened as he said, “It didn’t hurt a long time ago.”
‘How did you come out then?”
The game
I had worked on before was actually almost finished. After I was brought back, the people in the company still launched it according to the plan. As a result, the game became a huge success, earning over 80 million dollars shortly after its release, and the subsequent revenue continued to grow rapidly.
