Chapter 10
Amber, whom I hadn’t seen in a long time, ran toward us like a madwoman.
Her hair was a mess, and her face was bruised.
She looked like she had been beaten, and she seemed ten years older.
She shouted, “Bradley, you lunatic! It’s all because you kicked me. I can never have children now. It’s all your fault.”
Amber grabbed Bradley’s arm with all her strength.
She kept muttering, “Why? Didn’t you say you liked me?”
12:01 PM
Her emotions became more and more intense. She gripped his arm harder and harder.
Bradley’s face twisted in pain. He forcefully shook her off.
He spat, “You crazy woman. What’s wrong with you?”
He brushed off the area she had touched, looking disgusted.
His actions irritated Amber even more.
She screamed like a mad woman, “You ruined my baby for that bitch, Harriet. You even drove me crazy. Why? What is so special about her? Why does everyone like her?”
She kept ranting, her voice so loud it drew a crowd.
Laze instinctively shielded me behind him. Amber was unstable. No one knew what she might do.
Bradley stepped forward, putting himself between us.
He said, “What nonsense are you talking about? This has nothing to do with Harriet. This is all your own doing.”
Bradley’s words insulted her further.
Amber froze for a second and then burst into wild laughter.
Her laughter didn’t last long. Her expression turned grim.
She pulled out a knife from somewhere and charged at me.
For a moment, my mind went blank.
Laze quickly wrapped his arms around me to protect me.
Bradley reacted a second later. He lunged at her, trying to grab her hand.
But somehow, Amber found the strength to push him away and stabbed the knife into his abdomen.
She used all her strength. The blade went in deep.
Bradley used his last bit of energy to knock her hand away.
He fell to the ground, clutching his stomach. His eyes stared at her in disbelief.
Amber stared at the blood on her hands and froze.
Then she looked at Bradley, lying on the ground. She went mad and ran off.
As she passed Bradley, she kicked him hard. Blood gushed from his mouth.
He died on the spot.
Amber shoved through the crowd and fled. She looked completely insane.
Everything happened so fast. I couldn’t process it at all.
When it was over, I turned to Laze. “Laze, let’s go back tomorrow. I want to go back.”
Laze held me gently and patted my back to comfort me.
He said, “Okay, we’ll go back. When we’re home, I’ll take you horseback riding and eat all our specialties. You can do whatever you want.”
He said, “Okay, we’ll go back. When we’re home, I’ll take you horseback riding and eat all our specialties. You can do whatever you want.”
The next morning, we boarded the earliest flight.
Not long after, Laze and I got married.
We had the wedding of our dreams. I wore traditional attire and became his bride.
The next time I saw Amber, it was on the news. She had gone mad and was wandering the streets.
She survived by picking up trash. She was no longer the glamorous pianist she once was.
But none of that mattered to me anymore,
I was living the life I wanted and chasing the wind of freedom.
