Chapter 3
I turned to look at him, holding the hat with confusion.
Bradley’s face was full of anger as he quickly walked over and snatched the blue hat from my hand.
His face showed deep affection, as if the hat in his hand was the most precious treasure.
After a moment, he looked back at me.
Maybe he realized his actions had been too impulsive.
He awkwardly spoke. “Harriet, this hat isn’t for you. If you want one, I’ll buy you another.”
I looked at the hat. The stitching was obviously done by hand.
As for who it was made for, his actions spoke for themselves.
“Okay, I said, turning to leave.
Once I got to the company, I received a picture from Amber.
In the photo, she was wearing that same blue hat.
Even though I already knew the truth, my heart still ached for a moment.
I honestly had no idea how to face them.
All I could do was keep avoiding it.

It seemed like as long as I pretended not to know, nothing would have happened.
After work, I followed my colleague to a concert.
When I arrived, I found out it was Bradley’s performance.
A
I sat in the audience.
It wasn’t until an hour later that it was his turn to go on stage, but he was with a familiar figure.
It was Amber.
They performed a wonderful duet.
Even their outfits were couple–themed.
I clenched the edge of my clothes tightly, trying to suppress the urge to rush onto the stage.
After the performance, the two of them took a bow.
Bradley suddenly pulled out a flower and knelt in front of Amber.
He said, “Amber, this is our third year together. From the first moment I saw you, I knew I had fallen for you.
“I’ve thought about it for a long time and finally decided to confess today.
“Amber, I like you. I hope you’ll be my girlfriend.”
He spoke with such sincerity. His hand holding the flower trembled, and his eyes were filled with tears.
But his confession was the same one he said to me five years ago.
He once told me that he had fallen for me.
It turned out these words weren’t just for me. He could say them to someone else too.
Amber covered her face with both hands, nodding eagerly.
She said, “Yes.”
They hugged on stage and cried. The audience cheered for them to kiss.
And I, the real girlfriend, could only watch numbly.
Then something happened.
The beam above the stage collapsed, and the theater was thrown into chaos.
In the crowd, I was knocked to the ground.
Through the gaps, I saw Bradley protecting Amber as they ran out,
When they passed by me, he even pushed me aside roughly, telling me not to block the way.
I cried out in pain, “Bradley.”
Bradley looked back at me in disbelief and panic.
But the next second, he firmly protected Amber and ran out without hesitation.
About ten minutes later, I was rescued.

I was taken to the hospital.
Bradley just disappeared. He didn’t send a single message.
Instead, I received a message from Amber.
It was an ultrasound report.
