Chapter 24
“Is he seriously planning to drag this on?” Alina said, her voice sharp, “As long as you don’t divorce him, he’ll just keep torturing you. You’ll never be
“I’m not giving him that chance, Talia snapped, her brows furrowing. “Tll make sure he has no choice but to divorce me”
“How the hell are you gonna do that? Alina leaned in intrigued
“Remember when I asked you to recommend Nina’s designs for the Purar showcase!” Talia asked.
“Of course, I remember Alina’s expression turned serious as soon as she heard the name.
Talia winced, immediately regrening it. “Don’t be pissed. I know it was a dumb thing to do”
It was one of the biggest mistakes of her past life.
Back then, when Perry came begging for money again, she had no choice but to go to Edric. He had told her to ask Alina to push Nina’s designs for
the show
She had actually gone to Alina, begging her to help Nina’s career.
From that point on, Nina’s rise to fame had been unstoppable. She became the shining star, the perfect match for Edric in the public’s eyes.
And Talia She was nothing but a shadow, a nuisance standing in the way of the so–called “golden couple.”
“Alina, you don’t have to help her anymore. The recommendation is off the table, but we need to keep this from Nina.” Talia said.
“You’re really set on this, huh?” Alina’s eyes lit up with excitement.
Talia nodded, a sly glint in her eyes. “It’s time to let the
public see
see the real face of this so–called ‘design genius“,”
“Oh my God, you’re finally fighting back!” Alina’s face broke into a grin. She grabbed her glass and downed it in one go. You know, recommending Nina–the plagiaris–was worse than eating dirt!”
As an original designer, Alina had zero tolerance for plagiarism. It was a line she would never cross. But for Talia, she had made an exception.
Talia’s eyes filled with emotion, and she wrapped her arms around Alina. “I’m sorry. I made you go through so much because of me.”
Alina hugged her back, her eyes warm and understanding. “As long as you’re not suffering, I’m fine. But to make it up to me, you have to promise me one thing”
“What is it!”
Tike
e your retirement piece to Purar” Alina said, her eyes gleaming with hope.
Ever since her marriage. Talia had put her jewelry design career on hold to focus on family.
Talia hesitated for a moment. She had forgotten about that part of herself for so long. “Alright.”
“Yes! The real Talia is finally coming back!” Alina laughed, tears of joy brimming in her eyes.
Deanna, who had been quietly observing, smiled and poured them more drinks. “Well, then. Let’s celebrate.”
“Cheers!” Talu leaned back on the couch, watching her two friends with a sense of contentment. Her eyes began to well
- up.
In her past life, everything had been dull, colorless, and hopeless. Hut now, the world felt vibrant, full of life. She was here, drinking, laughing, and chatting with her closest friends. It all felt so surreal, so wonderfully perfect
After a few more rounds, the conversation turned to Deanna’s recent life. “So, Deanna, now that you’re back in Sampton City, what are your plans!
“Im working with Carmine now, training to be a surgeon at Wonder Hospital By the way, the hospital just got a new set of advanced surgical equipment.
“We’re now able to perform world–class, high–precision eye surgeries. Would you like to laring Curtis in for a checkup?” Deanna said.
“Sure” Talia knew exactly how skilled Deanna was, and Carmine Koch was a legend in the surgical fickl
She immediately scheduled an appointment and made arrangements to take Curtis to the hospital in a few days,
After a long separation, the three of them drank until they were completely intoxicated.

Chapter 21
The next morning. Talia woke up with a splitting headache.
She brewed herself a strong cup of coffee to wake up and a cup of herbal medicine to clear her mind.
Just as she walked into the living room, balancing both cups, the doorbell rang. “Who’s there?”
Without thinking. Talia opened the door, and a strikingly handsome face appeared before her. His bright, star–like eyes locked onto hers, gazing at her as though time had stopped.
Her heart skipped a heat. She took a deep breath, trying to keep her cool. “Can I help you?”
“Sorry to bother you” Edgar said, giving her a gentlemanly smile, his expression slightly helpless. “Rolly jumped from the balcony into your apartment.”
Talia nodded, understanding. You can sit down. I’ll go get him”
She let him into the living room and casually said as she headed upstairs, “There’s coffee on the table
Sure enough. Rolly was running in circles on her balcony. The men he saw her, he eagerly jumped into her arms.
