Chapter 27
“Don’t worry.” Edric’s gaze hardened, and he shot a cold, displeased look at the staff member. “You must be mistaken. Ms. Greer’s work was recommended by Purar’s chief designer, Alina.”
At the mention of Alina’s name, the staff member confidently pointed toward the center of the hall. “The work that Alina recommended is right over there. There’s no “Nina‘ listed anywhere”
Everyone turned to follow the staff member’s finger, and in the center of the hall, beneath the largest display case, the name tag clearly read [Designer. Talia () Recommended by: Alina.]
“Talia!” Nina’s eyes widened in shock, her face darkening instantly. She couldn’t hide her fury anymore. She thought. That bitch has completely played me!
The staff member, clearly eager to avoid any further conflict, immediately dialed Alina’s number in front of everyone.
Soon, Alina’s cold, dismissive voice came through the speaker. “I don’t know any Nina. Not just anyone can ride on Purar’s coattails!” And with that; Alma hung up.
As soon as the call ended, a look of disdain spread across the room, especially among the other designers.
I can’t believe someone would be so shameless, trying to hitch a ride on
ide on Purar’s big show?
“Seriously, with all that fuss, I thought Purar was her company!
“Hey, Nina, care to explain!”
“Yeah! What’s going on here!”
“I..” Nina was completely caught off guard, stumbling over her words. Her awkward reaction only confirmed what everyone already suspected: she’d tried to hijack the spotlight
The whole situation was spiraling out of control. She’d always been the center of attention, showered with praise, so she’d never experienced anything like this before.
As she was fuming with rage, Nina’s body trembled, unable to contain the frustration building inside her. She could barely look anyone in the eye, so instead, she turned toward Edric, her eyes welling up with tears.
Edric’s eyes grew cold as he scanned the room. His presence alone made the entire scene fall silent.
He glanced at the did case, where a lifelike gemstone hummingbird was displayed. This hummingbird is pretty ordinary. I don’t see any real
design talent here.
“Talia is a close friend of Alina’s, I guess even design masters are willing to overlook their principles for the sake of friendship. It’s a shame for Ms.
With just a few words, he subtly suggested that Alina had used her connections to push Talia’s work while sidelining Nina
The crowd, unsure of what to believe, began to slowly disperse.
Edric waved the reporters away, and Nina, her eyes brimming with tears, linked her arm with his. “Edric, thank you”
“I won’t let you suffer in vain Edric gently wiped the tears from her face, his expression hardening as he dialed Talia’s number
In the lounge. Talia’s good mood evaporated the moment she saw the incoming call.
As soon as she answered, Edric’s cold voice came through the phone. “Did you deliberately remove Nina’s work?”
“Watch your words. You’re the one who made me ask Alina to recommend her. She wasn’t qualified to begin with, so how could I remove anything? Tell your Nina to stop looking for shortcuts and actually put in some effort! Talia shot back bluntly.
Beside her. Alina gave her a thumbs–up, clearly pleased. “Well done!”
“I think so too.” “Talia winked playfully and immediately ended the call, blocking Edric’s number.
“But today, Edric covered for Nina again. You’re being way too easy on them!” Alina shrugged, clearly a little disappointed.
Talu smiled confidently. “No, Nina is the type to hold a grudge forever. This is just the beginning”
Alicia sat up straighter, intrigued. “What do you mean?”
