Chapter 7
Those who worked with Edgar were all top–tier professionals, inheriting his rigorous, detail–oriented approach. They always dug deep, checking every fact and leaving no room for speculation or vague words like “they say” or “maybe”
Eden felt his face flush with embarrassment. He was unworthy to be standing in front of Edgar at this moment.
Edgar’s eyes flicked over the thin file. “This is all you found on an ordinary person?”
His tone wasn’t harsh, but Eden wanted to slap himself. “I’m just as surprised. This is all
all that turned up.”
He was an elite, a graduate of one of the world’s top universities, yet this was all he could find.
Just as he was about to apologize, Edgar’s phone rang
It was Valeria. “Edgar, why haven’t you sent me a picture of your wife yer?”
Edgar’s long fingers, graceful as if playing the piano, tapped the window sill, then stopped when he heard her voice. “Grandmother, there’s no wife.”
“No wife? But Eden told me yesterday that you were holding hands with a girl…
“He misunderstood”
Before Valeria could say anything else, Edgar hung up, turning to Eden. Transfer 150 million dollars to her immediately”
“What about your contract marriage?” Eden asked carefully, after overhearing the conversation
“Cancel it” Edgar replied seriously. “She’s already married. Continuing the contract would only make things worse for her reputation.”
“Understood. I’ll start a new investigation right away” Eden couldn’t help but admire Edgar’s integrity
He put the file away, then asked, “Should we head back to Zenith City this afternoon! Jerry isn’t around, and if you fall ill suddenly.
“No need to rush,” Edgar replied calmly. “We’ll go back once we’ve found the descendant of the miracle doctor
It was his grandfather Edmund Binder’s dying wish. No matter what, he was determined to fulfil it
“Any leady”
Eden nodded. “Tve made some progress. Yesterday, I focused on tracking down the miracle doctor’s descendant, which is why you were left alone But I should have results now.
Wells, a famous herbalist with a well-
“I’ve checked, and there’s no sign of any miracle doctors in Sampion City in recent years. But there is a Terry V known pharmacy network in Sampton City
“However, several years ago, his second son tragically passed away, and Terry died from grief His eldest son, Perry Wells, still lives in Sampton Chy and runs a small… clinic. He’s probably the descendant we’re looking for. I’ve already set up a visit for this afternoon”
“Good. Let’s go now.
At the Wells family villa, when Edgar arrived, Perry and his wife Adele Wells were already waiting outside to greet him. The whole family was being overly flattering, and after exchanging pleasantries, Perry eagerly began boasting about Terry.
“Mr. Binder, after years of research. I’ve developed several beauty and anti–aging formulas. These could easily become a global sensation and make you a Fortune!” His words were a clear hint that he wanted Edgar to invest.
Edgar’s sharp
eyes scanned the short, stocky man in front of him. “Mr. Well, are you really the descendant of the miracle doctor?”
“Well..” Perry stanumered, clearly unnerved by Edgar’s powerful presence. Sweat beaded on his forehead
Adele saw Perry’s discomfort and, trying to be bold, interrupted loudly. “Of course! My husband is the only heir. His father passed down everything
to him!”
Edgar raised an eyebrow. “Oh! Including the Nine–turn Acupuncture?”
“Of course!” Adele responded quickly, almost too eagerly.
“Could
you
demonstrate it for us?”
“Well…” Perry’s face went pale. He stumbled over his words. “The Nine–turn Acupuncture is extremely complex and requires intense focus. I’m not feeling well today. How about you leave your contact information, and I can demonstrate it for you some other time, Mr. Binder!”

“That works.”
Edgar could tell that the Nine–turn Acupuncture was something Perry had just made up. Perry was not the descendant of any miracle doctor.
Without wasting any more time, Edgar stood up to leave.
Outside the villa, Talia, carrying several large bags, had just opened the gate to the Wells family courtyard and was about to walk inside.
