As we steppeilback into the party, the energy rushed over me like a wave, Laighter filled the air, and I could feel the excitement all around. “This is
more like it All that emotional talk is making me emotional and shi” Silver exclaimed as we rejoined the crowd.
“Let’vnuke the most of it!” I replied, scanning the mom for familiar faces. I spotted a table nearby where some male associates were chatting. Time to show Collins that I was more than just an abandoned mate. Well, it was what I was doing all afternoon but a little bit more wouldn’t hurt

As I approached, a couple of the males turned, their faces lighting up. “Joanne! “He’s doing well, thank you!” I replied, keeping my voice steady and cheerful. “He’s been busy as usual, handling pack matters and ensuring everything runs smoothly.”

a chuckle. “You’ve got a good one, Joanne.”
“Yeah, I do!” I said, feeling proud. I could see glimpses of Collins from the corner of my eye, but I kept my focus on the group. “But enough about my dad–what’s going on with all of you?”
Before they could respond. I turned slightly to glance at Collins‘ table. To my surprise, I noticed him, frozen in place, his mouth slightly agape. As he pieced together what I had said, a sudden realization washed over him.
“she’s an Alpha’s daughter,” he muttered under his breath, the words barely escaping his lips.
With the expression on his face at that moment, it was as if a light bulb went off in his head, illuminating everything he’d missed. All those feelings he’d ignored, the way he treated me, it all came crashing down like a heavy weight.
“Collus?” Poppy said, looking at him. “What’s wrong!”
It seemed it was too much for him to process. The rage painted his face so obviously, I had to hide my laughter. “L. I can’t believe he started but didn’t finish. Instead, he squeezed the glass in his hand tightly as if trying to crush the realization out of existence.
Suddenly, the glass shattered with a loud crack, sending shards flying. “Ow!” he yelped, feeling the sharp pain in his palm. Blood began to trickle down his hand, and he quickly dropped the remnants, which clattered to the floor.
The sound of glass breaking caused several heads to turn, and Collins‘ face toned red from embarrassment and anger. “Sorry! I’m sorry!” he stammered, quickly trying to apologize to those nearby while holding his injured hand.
“Collins, are you okay! What happened?” Poppy asked, concern etched on her face as she moved closer to help.
“I’m fine,” he said curtly, although he was clearly not. “Just… thinking too much.”

I stood frozen for a moment, watching him. My heart raced. It felt good to see him flustered, but it also twisted inssile me. So he finally realized who I was. It made my earlier anger bubble up again.
“Joanne“” Silver whispered, nudging for gently. “You see that! He’s a mess! Are you going to say anything
I shook my head. “Not now I want him to stew in it a bit longer. I’m not his punching bag anymore.”
“Good attitude!” Lila chimed in Lethan feel that burn! He earned it”
As Collins tried to keep his composure, I noticed him clenching his fist, blood still trickling from his fingers. “I–I really need to be more careful,” he mumbled, shooting a glare at the empty glass on the floor. A couple of nearby guests were whispering and pointing, clearly amused by his
“Collos, come out Let’s find something to wrap that,” Poppy said, exasperated. “You’re making a scene!”
“Yeah, just go handle yourself,” I muttered under my breath, feeling a rush of satisfaction at his state.
“Are you guys alright?” one of the men at my table asked Collis as he tumed to leave, concern evident in his voice.
“Just a little chimsy,” Collins said dismissively, attempting to brush it off, but I could see through his mask. There was anger simmering just below

the surface
I turned my back to Collins, feeling a mix of emotions. It felt empowering to see him struggle, but I also felt the sting of our shared past. I didn’t
want to wallow in pain anymore.
“Let’s just enjoy ourselves, alright?” I said to the group around me, forcing a smile. “I’m here to have fun and show them what I can do?”
“Exactly? Let’s get back to dancing!” Silver said, linking arms with me.
“Let’s go cheered, trying to shake off the tension. If Collins wanted to revel in his regret, that was on him. I was house forward, and nothing
I
could hold me back now.
As we danced and laughed, I stole glances back at Collins. He was still at the table, now binding his palm with a napkin. The look on his face was a mix of anger and realization. But in that moment, I didn’t feel sympathy. I felt even angrier. I wanted him to hurt and bleed some more.
“See! You’ve already made an impact,” Mia said, pulling me back to the dance floor. “You’re doing way better than you know and it’s a show!”
