Chapter 8
Joanne’s POV
“Oh please, you and your brother attacked me with a sharp pointy sword and I was just five at the time, how heartless could you have been?
A wave of laughter burst out of my mouth as I relived that very day in my head. I couldn’t stop laughing, the incident was way too funny for me to
It was fake Amara, it was basically a toy. I spoke up, managing to stop myself from laughing
“That’s not how I remember it. I clearly remember how you launched towards me with a full force. You were so ruthless?
“Me? It was Nathan who did that, I quickly defended my innocence.
“No, it was definitely you. She retorted nonchalantly
“Whatever, at least I’m not the one who threw up on her boyfriend during his own birthday party,” I said with a victorious smile across my face as Amara’s eyes popped out of the socket.
“Anna” That’s not fair, you knew I had way too much to drink that night. Besides you were the one who made me drink so much”
“Come on Amy we both know that you drank so much that night because you wanted to act all
all cool in front of Elvis so he’d be impressed!”
“But I would never have if you had not talked me into it Amara pouted like an annoyed little kid.
She was right, I did talk her into it back then and a whole of other things in various scenarios. She had always been the fragile and gentle one who was always too careful, while 1, on the other hand, had always been snoopy and Inquisitive
I was always curious to finding answer and never backed down just because of a challenge or problem.
Amara and I spent the remaining part of the day speaking and catching up on all our old childhood memories. Our loud Lughters echoed through the garden adding a bit of life to it’s usually dull atmosphere.
My cheeks widened deeper as more memories from our adventurous past filled my head and for the first time in a while, the feeling of genuine happiness washed over me.
After talking nonstop for hours, Amara bidded me goodbye and returned back home. The sun had long disappeared and the sky was completely black.
I had trained hard enough for the day so I decided to retire back to my room. It was after taking a hot relaxing bath that I realized i my entire body was from the long straining day.
as I laid on my bed, trying to make myself comfortable, I heard a gentle knock on my room door.

“Hey sweetie.” My mom poked her head through the door.

“Hello mom,” I replied with a smile. Ever since I returned back home, my mom had made it a ritual to always check up on me before going to bed. I knew she was just worried and me whiling the day away training did not relieve her one bit.
Infact it was as if it added more to
more to her unease.
“How are you doing baby?” My mom asked settling on my bed close to me. Her blue sparkling eyes rested softly on me as she stared at me with a Tender gaze
If there is a word more descriptive than the word kind, then that would be my mom. She was beautiful in and out, and never failed to show love to those who crossed her part. That was one of the intriguing thing that caused my dad to fall for her.
“I’m good, mom” Joanne replies in a calm voice.
“I see you are all ready for bed. My mom continued,
“You didn’t join us for dinner
her tonight, should I ask the maids to send some food over?” She asked.
“No mom, that wouldn’t be necessary, I declined. “I ate earlier with Amara before she left, I explained
“Alright sweetheart, but please don’t be too hard on yourself, always remember you can take a break okay?” My mom said

“Alright mom.” I replied but we all knew I wasn’t going to be at rest until I taught Collins and Poppy a befitting lesson.
“So how is the preparation for the tournament coming up?” My mom asked, finally changing the subject.
“It’s going smoothly for now, Collins would never expect what’s about to hit him!” I said with great resentment burning in my eyes.
“That’s good to hear, but always remember to have fun during the process okay?”
“Alright mom.” I said exactly what she wanted to hear. There was no point arguing with her.
“Speaking about fun, guess who put in a word for you the other day.” My mom said with a pleasant smile forming on her face.
“Who was it?” I asked with knotted brows
“It was Adam.” She beamed like an excited sixteen year old. “He had a meeting with your father some days back and asked to see you,”
“And you told him I wouldn’t be chanced right?” I asked already fully aware of the answer to my question. Her face said it all.
“Well I didn’t exactly say that,” she mumbled.
“Mom!” I yelled.
I’m sorry. I should have asked you first but you’ve been in doors training nonstop ever since you returned, I was sure if you would have agreed.
Please do not be upset. I just want you to go out and loosen up. She explained in her defense.
“Come on mom, you know how Adam feels about me, Why him of all people!” I asked in an annoyed tone. Adam was my childhood friend and was one out of my numerous admirers.
He had a soft spot in my parents hearts and if I had not been so stubborn back then we probably would have been married,
He was handsome, skilled, well mannered and most especially was the Alpha of our neighboring pack Silver lead. My parents had always thought he was the one for me, but I was so stubborn and went ahead to get married to Collins
