Chapter 357
AURORA

I sighed as I stepped up to Dane. I placed my hand on his on the table and noticed him shift it away.
“Dane?” I called, and he looked up at me. “I am serious… no one can take your place, not in this pack or in my heart.”
He locked eyes with me as if in doubt. Why would he doubt what I say?
I looked down at the table and noticed he was pushing the invitation card to me. I had Trajan prepare it before we arrived.
The ball was happening tonight, and Alina will be exposed at this ball. Kyle will be here, and everyone will know her true colors.
I sighed as I rubbed my temples. “Dane, I should have told you beforehand… but I…” I paused.
What should I tell him? I am just going to rub salt on his wounds… I should just keep it to myself. After tonight, I will tell him everything.
“Just a few hours, Danc… I promise to explain everything to you… trust me.”

“I want to… it’s better than hurting myself by mistrusting you, right?”
I smiled and turned to Trajan, who looked away as if he wasn’t watching before. “Let’s go, Trajan. I hope you are done?”
“Yes… I’m coming.”
I walked out, and as I crossed the door, I saw Dane staring at me. I looked away and walked out of the room, Trajan followed.
I entered my office, which was right next to his. I slumped on the chair as I breathed a sigh. “I can’t wait for all this to be.
over.”
“I know, right?” Trajan said as he sat in front of me. “I think Dane is upset… your secrecy is causing a rift between both of you, and you don’t want to tell anyone.”
I narrowed my gaze at him, “How did you know I had a secret?”
He chuckled, “I know you, Aurora… I know when you are lying, and you have been doing a lot of it since yesterday. Do you think Dane will not notice?”
I breathed out sharply, “I am doing what I do for a reason.”
Trajan nodded, “I know… you are wise, Aurora… but, is it worth costing your relationship with Dane?”
I stared at him silently. He was right, I can’t let this cause a

problem in my relationship. It has to end tonight.
“Trajan, I need to have a word with Joclyn.”

Trajan took a deep breath and got up. He went out of the office, and I leaned my head on the table. I don’t feel too good right now; I haven’t had anything to eat, and I don’t feel like having
any.
I raised my head soon when I heard Joclyn call out to me from outside. “Come in, Joclyn.”
She walked in and took her seat in front of me, “You called for me.”
I leaned in as I took her hand, “Joclyn, how is your flower hunt with Trajan?”
“We haven’t gone yet… but we will do that next week. I have been so busy in the pack.”
I nodded. “I have called you to talk about the ball… I want you to handle it… but there is something you must do…”
I lowered my voice and told her about Alina and Kyle and how I wanted to expose her lies at the ball.
Joclyn didn’t seem shocked when she heard what Alina had done. She was used to it because she knew Alina was always up to no good.
“I promise to handle it all, okay?” Joclyn said.

“I trust you,” I said with a smile.

Soon we were done drafting the order of events for the ball, and
she left.
Tristan poked his head from the side of the door as I tried to relax my head on the table once again. I thought I would take a
nap.
“Mum,” Tristan’s cheerful voice lit up the room, and I smiled as I called him in.
ETAT
He reached my table and looked around in awe. “Wow… mum, you finished work early today.”
I chuckled, “No, darling… I didn’t have much to do since your father has resumed work, and the majority of the workload was his.
“Oh.” Tristan nodded.
“That’s nice… it means I will have so much time to spend with you now.”
I pinched his cheeks softly. “There is a ball tonight. Do you have the outfit you would wear for it?”
Tristan held his chin as he went deep in thought, “I think I have some nice clothes, but they are old.”
“Old?” I asked. “You don’t have any old clothes, Tristan… all

your clothes are a few months old.”
“Isn’t that old… I want new clothes for every new party.”

My shoulders slumped, “No… Tristan, I am sorry, but you have to wear something nice from your wardrobe. Is that clear?”
“Yes, mum,” Tristan groaned.
I opened my cupboard and took out a lollipop, and I handed it to him. He took it happily and opened it.
“Thanks, mum.‘
I was about to talk when the door flung open. Evelyn stepped in holding two long dresses, a black one with stones on it and a silver one with blue stripes.
“Aurora… why didn’t you inform us of the ball earlier? Now I have no idea what I am going to wear,” Evelyn said with a frown on her face.
I got up to my feet and walked to the window. “You are pretty, Evelyn, no matter what you wear, you’ll always look sweet.”
Evelyn rolled her eyes, and I winked at her before I turned to look out the window.
“Which is better?” Evelyn asked.
“The black,” I replied as I opened the curtains and looked out.

“How would you know? You are not even looking.”
“Well, that’s because I had seen them when you got in, so…” I paused. I narrowed my eyes as I looked at the people outside the window.
What is Alina doing talking to Miles?
I hope he doesn’t tell her that I know about the man with the tattoo.
