Chapter 7
Fortunately, law firms are no longer surprised by contracts involving infidelity within marriage and property division.
The contract was quickly drafted.
On the way home, it didn’t take too much time..
“Ryan.”
I handed the contract to him.
He signed it without even looking, and at the end, he smiled at me and said, “What’s the matter,
Bella made it all mysterious.”
“The company shares and your assets under your ownership, we divided them proportionally.”
Ryan paused for a moment with the paper in his hand.
“Why on earth would we sign something like this? When did Bella and I have to separate like this?”
“It needs to be distinguished.”
“Money was quite important to me.”
I said this sentence very slowly and sincerely.
From the age of eighteen to twenty–eight, a whole decade.
From crawling and struggling to today, only we ourselves know the hardships in between.
I used to think that we were inseparable, so I didn’t care about the company bearing his name or the
fact that he had more shares than me..
But now things are different.
I did not give any less than him.
It was mine, and I wouldn’t take a single penny less.
“Bella.”
“Wasn’t mine just yours?”
His tone was restrained, but there was a faint sense of dissatisfaction and questioning in his words,
ready to burst out.
Seeing him like this, I actually had a feeling of wanting to laugh, but I couldn’t force a smile.
Even if I had obtained concrete evidence of his infidelity during marriage, the court would not have
sentenced him to leave the household. The best outcome would have been a 60-40 split in my favor.
had to strive for the greatest benefit after the divorce during the time when he still had affection.
for me.
“Sorry, Bella.”
Ryan knew he had lost control and his breathing became slightly rapid. “I’m going downstairs to have a cigarette.”
He left in a hurry and didn’t take his phone.
When I entered the password, my fingertips hesitated for a moment, tentatively typing in my own birthday.
Unlocked.
“Are you thinking of me?”
“I’m waiting for you, and my patience is running out.”
“Tomorrow, I will still wear her clothes and be with you, but you are not allowed to call her name in front of me again!”
Apart from these three messages, the chat box was empty.
I casually pulled out the photo album from the bottom right corner.
Looking up, I could even recount every little detail behind each photo.
Most of the photos in Ryan’s phone were mine.
I laughed, I got angry, I took a photo with Jane.
Thousands of photos piled up in the album, spanning all the time I spent with him from junior high. school until now.
Only one picture suddenly appeared in front of my eyes.
It was Lilly’s photo.
She was sleeping with her head down on his office desk.
The photo was blurry, but the peaceful sleeping face in the afternoon light did indeed resemble what he had said, just like when I was young
It was really disgusting.
Thad no expression on my face as I took a photo to keep as a memory.
Half an hour later, he came home and the contract was outlined with circles and dots by a pen.
Bella, I reflected and realized that it might have been my failure to provide you with enough sense of security that made you suddenly concerned about these things.”
“No matter what the reason was, it was my fault.”
“I’ll transfer 50% of the company shares to you. Later, I will have Douglas organize all the details of my assets and transfer them to you.”
“Sorry, Bella, I didn’t notice your emotions.”
He looked at me apologetically, considering a few ways to make up for it. “Bella, do you remember that we didn’t take wedding photos back then? When you were pregnant and wanted to take them, I happened to… break my leg.”
“Great, you have almost recovered now. Shall we go tomorrow?”
I don’t know how long it had been, in my long silence.
He hugged me from behind and whispered softly in my ear, “Go, Bella.”
“It won’t take much time, just consider it as me begging you.”
