Chapter 13
Don’t move!”
“Raise your hands!”
I wanted to vomit, but I couldn’t breathe.
The wind whistled past my ears, and the sunlight grew stronger. There were countless hands trying to help me up, but none of them dared to exert force. They only waited for me to slowly scoop up the ashes and put them into the box before rushing up in a frenzy.
“Don’t sleep, Bella.”
“It’s all in the past, you are safe now.”
Thump, thump.
Originally, when a person was in extreme pain, their heartbeat had a sound.
牢牢
After my wound was treated, I was transferred to a regular ward.
The next–door couple was complaining about the expensive rent.
The girl shyly nodded at me, then turned her head angrily but gently patted the boy’s head.
‘Why spend so much money? What kind of house can’t be lived in!”
The boy stiffened his neck, but the smile at the corner of his mouth grew even stronger.
“You hit me, if you have the heart to, just kill me! I don’t care, I just want you to live more comfortably.”
He lowered his head and, as he watched the girl daydreaming, muttered softly to himself, “Money, can be earned again, but there is only one wife.”
After saying these words, he didn’t linger and
out.
Tabbed the takeout cap on the table before ruship
Stripped away from the chaos and noise of the day, the hospital at night was cold and silent.
I drank some water and placed the cup on the table with peeling paint.
Suddenly, I remembered the time when my mom had just divorced my dad.
Back then, it was not common to file lawsuits. If any family had such an incident, they would be poked in the spine by their fellow villagers.
My father was a scoundrel, and my mother, in order to take me away, gave hitm all of our savings,
and even promised to send him money every month to prevent any future trouble.
This lasted for a full four years, and her body was exhausted. After a serious illness, she also accumulated a large amount of debt.
The heavy burden of life fell entirely on me and Ryan, who had just graduated.
He worked three jobs every day, while I constantly searched for cheap houses during my free time.
Living in the small house that we earned our first money together, I truly felt that there would be nothing happier than this.
Occasionally, we would lounge on the couch and watch movies, secretly stealing kisses as our shadows intertwined, oblivious to each other.
He liked holding my right hand.
He said the closest line to the finger is called the love line, and he also said that the lines on my hand were curved, rosy, and clear.
The moonlight was dim inside the house, while the lights outside flickered.
I slowly stood up, squinting my eyes and staring at my right hand.
I didn’t see clearly at all.
Woke
up the next day.
I reflexively reached out and grabbed the pillow, only to realize that I had been moved to a separate ward.
On the balcony, Ryan casually took the cigarette from his lips, and a wisp of white smoke slowly blurred in front of his cold face.
He finished smoking a cigarette, but he didn’t seem to calm down yet. He shook out another cigarette from the cigarette box.
He stood for a long time, took off his coat, and only entered the house after the smell of smoke had completely dissipated.
“Bella.”
He looked at me as I woke up, with a hint of unease in his eyes.
…
“Can we … not get divorced?”
Thirteen years.
Not only was I familiar with every action, expression, and even thought of his, but he was also familiar with me.
all know that there is no turning back.
“I didn’t know Dad would find you. I had instructed the people at the sanatorium to stop him. I’m sorry, Bella, I’m sorry. You called me at that time, and I wanted to call you back immediately.”
“But I couldn’t get through, 1, 1 called you many times but you didn’t answer, and in the evening the police station contacted me saying that something happened to you.”
He didn‘
turn on the light, and the sun didn’t come out outside the window.
Ryan’s back looked desolate, and he was enveloped in shadows, appearing particularly gloomy.
“Twice.”
“What?”
He raised his head blankly and instantly understood my meaning.
I gave him two chances, but he didn’t seize them.
His face suddenly turned pale..
