Chapter 6
The wedding was about to begin.
I looked at myself in the mirror, adorned with a luxurious crown and gown, slightly lost in thought.
It was not the wedding with Vincent.
Hezekiah informed us last night that it would be a traditional wedding.
Yesterday, I watched Vincent leave without looking back, and there was a momentary sadness in my heart, but more than that, there was a sense of relief.
Still, I am never his firm choice.
Forget it, let it be.
Just as I turned around and was about to go home, I saw a car at the corner.
Drove up, followed by a train.
Hezekiah got out of the car and led a group of people who were carrying something in their hands.
I felt a little guilty and confused, not knowing if he had seen Vincent, and also wondering how he
had come.
“Why are you standing outside?” came a deep, magnetic voice.
I thought that I probably didn’t see it, and I smiled.
“Come down and take a walk, what’s the matter with you?”
I didn’t quite catch on when I heard Hezekiah say that he came to deliver the betrothal gift.
Then I heard my mother’s voice.
“Hezekiah came over, sweetheart, what are you standing there for? Bring Hezekiah in.”
I was a bit confused and went with him. We sat on the sofa, watching Hezekiah chatting happily with my parents. I felt like the world was a bit magical.
The noisy sounds from outside came, and I snapped out of it.
The time was approaching, and I slowly walked towards the door, when I heard voices discussing
outside.
“Who in our circle doesn’t know, Yaritza liked Vincent. It was obvious that she didn’t want him to marry Reina.”
heard that Vincent went to Swobia with Yaritza? He just sprained his foot and got so nervous, evident that he’s someone dear to her.”
it’s
Even the groom has left, they said the wedding was postponed, but I can clearly see that they want to call off the wedding. Reina is not doing well either, after dating for several years, it would be better if she could come back and act coquettishly like others.
“Reina used to be a top beauty in our circle, very proud. She also has this day, hey.”
“My reputation is ruined, what am I going to do when I get married in the future?”
“I received a call from the Stratakos family yesterday, saying that the wedding was canceled today. But then the Mears family called and said the wedding is still on. I can’t make sense of it. Are these two families feuding or something?”
“I am too, I am too. Anyway, I would have had free time a week earlier, so I came to see the excitement.”
I listened and found that what was said was quite good, very fair, and the audience’s eyes were sharp.
As for me, Vincent wouldn’t care about these things.
He wouldn’t know how embarrassed I was in front of others in the circle for postponing the marriage for Yaritza.
The time has come.
When I walked out, I happened to see those people, they didn’t know this was the dressing room.
As I walked out, I couldn’t help but say, “Congratulations on your wedding.”
I smiled and softly replied, “Thank you.”
Thank you so much, it made me realize that I was just a clown.
The guests did not know that there had been a change of personnel and they all wanted to see how I would handle the situation.
When Hezekiah appeared wearing a groom’s wedding robe, everyone at the scene was startled,
There was a moment of silence, and then it instantly became noisy again.
I heard his cold and deep voice, and the noise subsided.
“Today, the people getting married were Hezekiah and Reina, from beginning to end.”
“Do you all understand?”
The surrounding guests all responded in unison, and words of congratulations were heard incessantly.
The wedding went smoothly.
Today, October 20th, is the day Vincent and I chose together.
Khought today was the happiest day for us.
However, Vincent.
Today, I got married to someone else.
I glanced at Hezekiah beside me and found him to be a good son–in–law.
After the ceremony, I went to the back to change into the attire for toasting.
Afterwards, I was busy non–stop, my feet were sore from walking, I didn’t drink much alcohol, but I got a little tipsy.
After the final banquet ended.
I was practically carried back to the room by Hezekiah.
I didn’t think too much, I just felt tired and took a comfortable bath.
I just lay on the bed, not wanting to move at all. Who would have thought that getting married could be so exhausting.
The door opened and I saw Hezekiah walking into the bathroom with a robe.
I instantly sat up and forgot that there was still another person in the room.
And he was also my newlywed husband, tonight was our wedding night.
As I was thinking, my face turned red.
When
others finished bathing, I took a glance and breathed a sigh of relief. They were wrapped up quite tightly.
Seeing him getting closer to me, I unconsciously gripped the bedsheet tightly. He was so close tha could feel his warm breath brushing against my burning red ear.
Then I heard a light laughter, suddenly looked up, and collided with eyes full of laughter.
My hand was also pulled apart by another large and slender hand.
“Stop grabbing, be careful, your hand will hurt.”
I felt a bit uncomfortable and averted my gaze.
Hezekiah stood up and walked to the other side of the bed. “We got married in a hurry, and I know you weren’t fully prepared. Take your time, I won’t regret it, don’t worry.”
I nodded because I had been feeling uneasy in my heart about Vincent and me, and he knew it.
suddenly felt wronged for no reason.
Idon’t know if I will regret marrying him hastily in the future.
But now, I only felt safe.
