Genesis watched as Tadgh’s eyes lit up as she came down the stairs for their date.
“Wow.”
“It’s jeans and sweater.” Genesis waved her hands over body.
“Jeans which fit you like a glove, and your sweater is cashmere, and it makes me want to rub against you.”
She pursed her lips trying not to laugh. “You want to rub against me huh? Because of the sweater?”
“Without the sweater even more so. You going to take it off?”
“Yes.” She nodded playfully, “at bedtime when it’s time for my pjs.” His crestfallen expression made her giggle.
“I love that giggle.” Tadgh held his hand out. When she took it, he smiled nervously, “hi beautiful.”
“Hi Tadgh. You look good too.” She let her eyes rove over his body. He was also in jeans but paired with a blue button–up and his leather jacket.
“You ready for our date?”
“I am.”
“You guys are off?” Lorcan’s voice called from the direction of

“We are,” Genesis looked over her shoulder. He’d come home. while she’d been getting ready for her date, and he’d come straight to her room to kiss her hello and to inquire on how she was feeling after the events of the night before. He’d been sweet and attentive and the hug he’d given when she admitted she was nervous of her date with Tadgh, was reassuring and loving. “Make sure Egan gets to bed on time.”
He winked, “yes, princess.” He pointed at Tadgh, “bring her home in one piece.”
“Yes sir.” Tadgh nodded. “Where’s Kiefer? He’s not seeing us off?”
“He’s with Egan in the office. They’re deciding which bed he wants for his new room.”
“Tell him we’ll see him tomorrow.”
“Late tomorrow,” Genesis’s smile was wide when Lorcan threw his head back and laughed. She linked her arm through Tadgh’s and let him escort her out of the house. She was surprised when instead of a car, he took her up to a motorcycle. “We’re going for a bike ride?”
“We are. I know you know how to ride.”
“Is it safe? Kiefer seemed to be worried about security last night.”
“The entire route is planned out. The crew is set up with checkpoints. If we miss even one, it’s all hands–on–deck to find us. I don’t foresee any problems though. Where we’re going to, is owned by us and there’s nobody who isn’t O’Reilly allowed

“I did. This date is important to me Genesis and I didn’t trust anyone else to do it right.”
His words surprised her, and she looked at him with big eyes as he fastened a helmet over her head.
“When we get there, do me a favor?” He asked her with a glint in
his eye.
“What?”
“Take this helmet off and shake out your hair. It’s one of my favorite memories of you from Dublin.”
She snickered at his request. “Okay only if,” she beamed up at him, “you do the cursing thing you did when I first met you.”
He laughed, “I wasn’t cursing at you. I was cursing at Kiefer for catching you when you fell. I knew you’d go for him since he was the white knight.”
“Yeah, but it was my first time hearing an Irishman cursing in a full string of words I didn’t understand, and it was hot as hell.”
He grabbed the belt loops of her jeans and yanked her closer to him. “You thought it was sexy?”
“Yes. Then I was with Kiefer, and I pushed any thoughts away of you, but I always thought you were sexy, Tadgh. Then you started being rude to me all the time and mean sometimes.”
He nodded. “We are going to talk all about this, tonight. It

Right now, though, I want to feel you wrapped around my waist. Come on beautiful. Let’s go for a ride.” He pulled a jacket off the bike.
“You bought me a leather jacket?” She shrugged into it. She sniffed the arm of it and grinned, “leather smells so good.”
“I think so too,” he straddled the bike and when she wrapped her arms around his waist, the way his hands clutched hers to his abdomen was as if he were making certain she was actually there gripping him. The engine roared to life, and he gave a loud shout of joy as they took off.
She held onto Tadgh as they raced down the driveway, surprised when he popped a wheelie, pulling the bike up on its back wheel before they reached the road. When she clutched him tighter, she knew why he did the wheelie.
The evening was early and the way he was driving through the streets deeper towards the countryside told her he definitely had a destination in mind. She wanted to ask him exactly where they were going but the roar of the bike and the wind in her ears stopped her. Instead, she let herself relax on the back of the bike. clutching his jacket at his middle.
As the sky darkened, they were winding through roads with no traffic other than the occasional car or bike and she knew it was the Iron Force Gang making sure their vice president was where he was supposed to be. Eventually they drove up an old dirt road and as they drew to a halt, she noted several vehicles at an older building.
The bike came to a rolling stop and when they got off the bike, Genesis made a production out of removing her helmet which

“What is this place?” she asked curiously looking around.
“It’s a training facility.” Tadgh grinned at her as he linked his fingers through hers.
“A training facility?”

“Yes. Do you think we simply pick little Irishmen and women off the street and declare them fit to be part of our company? They need to be trained, Gen.”
“I had no idea. What kind of training?”
“The brutal kind. How to beat. How to take a beating. How to interrogate, which I am very gifted in but not as gifted as Kiefer. I tend to lose my patience when things drag on too long.”
“You’re not as patient as Kiefer?”
“Nope. I’m hot, he’s cold. It’s always been the way. We look identical. We have similar mannerisms and tics and behaviors. but where he shuts down, I get fired up. The angrier Kiefer gels, the quieter he gets. He likes to walk away, gather his thoughts, make a plan, and then come back and talk shit out. I on the other hand, really like a good throw down, scream until you’re hoarse fight. Yell, scream, let it all out, all at once and then it’s done. I don’t need to ruminate on it for days later. I want it out, done and over.”
“Do you think we’ll have fights like this?”
“I’m counting on it, Genesis. You need it. You need the catharsis

“You’re right. I have anger which needs to come out.”
“Then,” he flicked a light on in a room, “let’s blow off some
steam.”
She stopped in awe. “What the hell is this place?”
“Usually, it’s real bodies in here but since our last update on Laoise is she was in Tunisia and we’re closing in on her, she’s not here yet. We’ll have to use a practice dummy.”
“You,” she walked a few feet forward and then stopped again, looking at him incredulously. “You did this?”
“Yup.”
“Tadgh, they’re ballistic dummies.”
“Yes.”
“Made to look like your sister and Laoise.” She was staring at the bright red–haired wig on one of the mannequins, her breath catching with the ideas floating through her brain.
“Yes.”
He tossed his leather coat over the back of a nearby chair. “They’re the kind they use on the television show MythBusters, with the blood and guts and stuff.” He grabbed a baseball bat off a nearby table. He wiggled it. “There are even fake brains in

“Some people haven’t been through the trauma you have and since we’re pretty sure based on our last update from the dungeons back home, Mom will have a bullet in Aoife by dawn, this is the best way for you to get some closure.” He rested the bat on his shoulder and approached her, his eyes concerned but loving as he stared down at her. “Get what you need, Gen. Beat the fuck out of them. Give them what they gave you.”
“This is the weirdest date I’ve ever been on.”
“Oh, don’t worry.” He grinned at her, his teeth on full display, “after you beat them, break their bones, bash their brains out and then shoot them, we’re having dinner.”
“Shoot them?”
“Yes. I have a gun for you. You can pull the trigger on both of them. Then, we’ll go to one of the other outbuildings and we’re going to have a picnic, share a bottle of wine, make out a bit and I’ll even serenade you.”
“Serenade me?”
“Uh–huh,” he winked at her, “I brought my guitar with me. When I was a teenager, I dreamed of being a rockstar. A few guys and I made a band, and we played a few gigs before Dad shut us down.”
“Your dad shut you down?”
“We were sixteen–year–olds playing in pubs. Dad was not pleased to find out we were lying about our ages and drinking

played rock music. If you catch Egan at sixteen partying in a pub, are you going to let him pursue his dreams?”

Her eyes flicked to the table of weapons splayed out. “Yes but, can I use something instead of the bat?”
“Sure. What are you thinking?” he walked with her over to the
table.
“I’ll use the bat after, but I want to start with something a bit more personal.” She lifted a blow torch. She saw his amused. expression. “You think it’s funny?”
“No. I think earlier today when I told Kiefer about my plans for our date, he freaked at me and told me I was going to set your back five years in your healing by triggering the abuse they put you through. Dad told me to trust my gut when it comes to you, and therefore I stuck with it. I know I’m right, Genesis. You need this. I can see it in your face. Go.” He waved to the dummies. “Torture the fuck out of those two bitches who stole your baby boy from you. We can move on after but first, let’s fuck shit up.”
