“Why did you end the book like that? Please tell me there’s a sequel!” Karen’s voice was almost pleading, filled with desperation.
“I was just too tired of that story. I needed to let it go,” I explained, trying to stay calm.
“What do you mean? You can’t just end a story because you’re tired of it! The website crashed because your fans are flooding the comments and can’t accept that you ended it so abruptly?
“Calm down… there will be a sequel” I said reassuringly. The noise from her end quieted instantly.
“Really? Don’t play with me now.”
“I’m not playing,” I replied, opening my laptop and sitting on the edge of my bed. “Hold on, I’m logging into my account right now. Check in five minutes.” I ended the call before she could say anything else‘
I quickly typed up a message for my fans:
“Hey dear readers of Rejected by the Alphat, I hope you had a wonderful time reading my story because I sure enjoyed writing it. Right now, I’m working on a sequel. The title is *The Alpha Who Chose Me. I hope you enjoy it “2
Thit send and waited, hoping the response would be just as enthusiastic.
Not long after, the comments flooded in, and the constant chimes made my phone vibrate non–stop.
-Oh my goodness! Is this a dream?!!
-I can’t breatheerl
The Alpha Who Chose Me??? Did the female lead find a mate???
-The suspense is killing me!!

I let out a sigh of relief, smiling as I scrolled through the enthusiastic responses. Just as I put my phone down, it buzzed incoming call. I picked it up.
“Your fans are going crazy!” Karen exclaimed joyfully
“I can see that,” I replied with a chuckle
“Oh, I forgot to tell you,” Karen continued, her tone shifting to excitement. “A publishing company reached out to us. They want to acquire the rights to turn your books into paperbacks ”
“Oh?” My eyebrows shot up in surprise.
“Yeah. The executives are still discussing it because your book is such a big hit for us, but these people seem willing to pay anything. Plus, you’d retain your rights, and they’re offering you 80% of the revenue. It’s an absurdly good deal.
My mind reeled at the news. “Eighty percent? That is generous.”
“Yes, so if they successfully purchase the rights from the company, they’ll contact you directly… their words, not mine,” Karen said “Alright,” I replied, ending the call with a mix of curiosity and excitement.
Not long after, Vivian strolled into my room, a mischievous smile on her face
“Mum and Dad are preparing a ball to celebrate you,” she announced, flopping onto my bed
“A ball?” I raised an eyebrow.
“Yes,” she said with exaggerated enthusiasm. “You’re the long–lost daughter, after all. You deserve a grand introduction to the world. Oh, and they’ll also announce your engagement to Ryan at the event.”
“Oh.” I muttered, fidgeting with my nails. “But I don’t have anything to wear
Vivian rolled her eyes, laughing. “Don’t worry about that. We own chains of luxury boutiques. One call, and hundreds of dresses will be delivered to your doorstep.
“Alright, then I giggled nervously.
“But first,” Vivian said, sitting up with sudden senousness, “you need to get dressed right now
“What? Why?” I asked, panicked.}
“We’re going to introduce you to the elders of the Obsidian Pack,” she explained. “You need their blessings, and since they’re in seclusion, only high–ranking pack members can visit them.“”
My heart sank. “The elders? Are they scary?”
Vivian smirked. “Let’s just say they’re intense‘. But don’t worry I’ll be with you.“%
I dressed in a simple floral dress and left the house with my parents and Vivian. The car ride was quiet as the driver took us through winding roads until we arrived at what looked like a secluded mansion. The air was crisp, and the serene surroundings gave the Impression of a place meant for meditation and reflection.
An elderly woman greeted us at the entrance, her sharp eyes gleaming as they landed on me.
“They’ve been expecting you” she said with a smile that seemed to hold a deeper meaning
“Thank you, Lydia,” my father replied, giving her a respectful nod &
She led us through the mansion’s intricately carved wooden doors and into a large chamber. Inside, five elders sat in a semi–circular formation, their presence commanding the room.
“Took you long enough,” an elderly woman in the center said, her silver hair glinting under the soft light. Despite her advanced age,
221 PM
there was a regal air about her, and her piercing gaze made me feel small!
“She needed to rest. She’s been through a lot,” my father defended, his voice steady but respectful
“Ah, yes,” another elder, a man with a stem face, interjected, clicking his tongue in disapproval. “From what I hear, she was busy chasing after that week woll from the Crimson Moon Pack.”
Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I felt a wave of embarrassment as the room fell silent. Vivian glanced at me with a smirk, while I stared at the floor wishing it would swallow me whole.
“You really settled for less…” another elder scoffed, his tone dripping with disdain. “Don’t you know the Crimson Moon Pack is under the Darkcrest Pack by treaty? And that girl… what’s her name? The beta’s daughter her father’s pack is under our Obsidian Pack.”
“Evelyn?” I asked, confused.
“Yes, whatever her name is, I don’t care to remember it. My point is, why would you involve yourself with individuals so beneath you?” “Now, now, that’s enough,” the first female elder interjected, her voice calm yet firm. “We didn’t summon her here to scold her. Come here, girl. Let me take a closer look at you.”
Nervously, I stepped forward, my steps hesitant as I approached the elder. When I finally reached her, I felt an overwhelming sense of peace emanating from her. Her aura was warm and calm, wrapping around me like a comforting blanket, immediately easing some of my tension
“Your destiny is great, girl,” she said, her voice soft yet filled with conviction. “The weight of the Obsidian Pack rests on your shoulders. You will achieve great things for our people.”
She stood, her silver hair shimmering in the light, and pressed her index finger gently against my forehead. A sudden warmth spread through me, starting at the point of contact and flowing throughout my body
“This won’t unlock the full extent of your powers,” she explained, her tone almost motherly. “That will only happen after you mate with the woll of Darkcrest. However, this will allow you to feel the burden of your gifts. You are free to turn back anytime if it becomes too much for you.
“Thank you,” I said genuinely, and she smiled warmly at me
Before long, we were done, and we made our way back to the car. Our parents walked ahead, deep in conversation, leaving me with Vivian. I took the opportunity to ask her something that had been nagging me…
“Why didn’t you tell me those two packs were under ours and Ryan’s?” I whispered…
“I wanted it to be a surprise,” she said with a playful shrug “But, of course, Elder Alfred beat me to it. Why does no one ever let me have my moment with surprises?” She pouted dramatically, and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Does this mean they’ll be at my welcome ball? I asked, feeling a little anxious.
“Yes, of course. Why? Are you not ready to see him?” she asked, raising a curious eyebrow.
“It’s not that… I started, but my words faltered ”
“Then you have nothing to worry about, baby sis. The hierarchy is different now. He won’t be able to approach you at will, and you’ll
be with Ryan the entire time. Besides,” she added with a sly grin. “I think you and Ryan should spend more time talking when we get home. You two were inseparable when you were younger, it shouldn’t be that hard to reconnect
“Yeah,” I said softly, nodding “I’ll do that.”
