The next morning, I moved out when Mark
wasn’t home.
I erased myself from that house, like I had
never even been there.
When Mark came home from work, he was met with an empty house, and all my stuff gone. He went into a panic, trying to call me
over and over again.
At first, I ignored him, then I just blocked him.
But then, Mark’s car started showing up in
front of my new place.

Every time it happened, I just ignored it, or
tried to avoid him.
Until one day, I was walking out of the building, and I wasn’t paying attention, he
cornered me.
When he saw me, he looked sad, “Bailey, why aren’t you answering my calls? Do you know how long I’ve been waiting here?”
ph
I couldn’t help but laugh.
Did he know how long I had to wait for him when I was trying to see him at his company?
L
I’d often wait for hours, sometimes they
would even have me thrown out.
I got used to waiting for him outside of his company, since I wasn’t allowed in unless he
said so.
I remember this time, when he’d asked me to bring him lunch, I had waited at the front of his company until 3:00 in the afternoon.
And when I finally called him, he had the nerve to say that he was already out to lunch with Amber, and that I should go home.
I frowned, asking impatiently, “What do you
Mork?”
want, Mark?”

The stubble on his chin looked messy, and his
eyes had lost their usual shine:
Vhy… why
didn’t you tell me you were moving out?”
I shook my head, my voice cool, “We are
about to get divorced, I have no obligation to tell you anything.”
And I walked right past him.
