My paintings had this energy to them, but my
technique was still lacking, which was a bit of
a bummer.
My girlfriends could tell I was frustrated and
suggested that I should study abroad to really
learn the technical side of painting.
After the divorce, I was finally free, with no
strings attached.
So, I decided to take their advice and start
planning my studies abroad.
But, the divorce was proving to be a lot more
complicateu inan i nau thoughɩ.
My lawyer called me again, telling me that his lawyer was dragging his feet and that they weren’t happy with the draft of the divorce
agreement.
I unblocked Mark and gave him a call, “Let’s talk, there’s no point in dragging this out.”
That day, Mark drove me around, and we
talked about the past.
“Bailey, you remember this place? You wanted a puppy, so I brought you here.”
He pointed to the pet store.
く
Yeah, and you were in bed with Amber when
that dog got sick and died.
“That place by our school is still the same. Always packed with kids after school.”
“I wonder if that place you used to love is still
there.”
Mark suddenly smiled, like he remembered
something funny.
“You used to sneak those snacks, and when Mom caught you, you’d blame me.‘
I looked out the window, and stopped talking.

I looked out the window, and stopped talking.
Mark had no idea, but after we got married, I’d come to these places by myself, a lot.
