His words, every single one of them, were in defense of Olivia’s child.
Charlie stared at him, disbelief filling his little eyes.
Just yesterday, Harry had exploded with rage when someone mocked Charlie.
But now, he was standing up for the one who insulted him.
So, as long as it was a different person, the attitude would change entirely?
The light in Charlie’s eyes dimmed.
I had no more patience for this and simply took my son’s hand, walking away.
Harry stood there in a daze, staring at our retreating figures. Olivia had to call him four or five times before he finally snapped out of it.
19 hours left.
That night, while I was on the phone with the principal discussing the transfer process, my son sat on the
couch watching cartoons on his iPad.
Just as we were about to finalize the arrangements, the cartoon’s sound suddenly stopped.
I walked over in confusion, only to see Olivia’s latest social media update on the screen.
A thrilling roller coaster ride.
Olivia nestled in Harry’s arms, eyes shut as she screamed.
Her son, Lucas, flashed a peace sign at the camera with his bright, clear eyes.
Before I could react, my son zoomed in on the photo.
He stared at the boy’s dazzling eyes, over and over again.
“Mommy, my eyes… were they pretty?”
A sharp pain stabbed my heart. I hurriedly closed the tablet and coaxed him to bed.
“Charlie, be good. Mommy will stay with you.”

He nodded but clung to my hand–so tightly, so desperately.
Once he fell asleep, I sent the transfer request to the principal’s email.
15 hours left.
It was almost over.
Halfway through packing, Harry returned home with Olivia and her son after their fun day out.
The moment he stepped inside and saw my open suitcase, he froze.
Then, he immediately let go of the child’s hand and rushed over to block the suitcase.
“Sophia, why are you packing? Where are you going? Where’s Charlie?”
His panic looked real, but I couldn’t care less.
I brushed him off with an excuse.
“Charlie’s upset. I’m taking him on a trip to relax.”
Harry sighed in relief.
“As long as it’s not-”
He didn’t finish. Instead, he quickly changed the subject.
“Olivia hasn’t found a place to stay yet. Since we’re all friends, I thought they could stay here for a few
days.”
“Sophia, you don’t mind, right?”
Seeing that I remained silent, he hurried to reassure me,
“I already scolded Lucas about this afternoon. He knows he was wrong. So-”
“Let them stay.”
After all, by tomorrow, my son and I would be
gone.
Harry beamed, immediately leading Olivia and her son upstairs as if afraid I’d change my mind.
Ten minutes later, a child’s wail suddenly echoed from upstairs.

There, Olivia’s son was stomping on something triumphantly.
And Charlie, in his pajamas, was on the floor, frantically searching with trembling hands.
“My eye… my eye…”
Hearing my voice, he lifted his tear–streaked face and sobbed.
“Mommy, I can’t find my eye! Help me find my eye!”
His helpless, broken cries clenched my heart into a fist, squeezing it with unbearable pain.
Instantly, I rushed forward and shielded him in my arms.
Lucas, startled, slipped and fell, bursting into loud wails of his own.
Olivia shot me a venomous glare, raising her hand as if to strike me.
But halfway up, she stopped–her lips curling in amusement.
“Sophia, do you like my son’s eyes?”
“At that time, the doctor told me my son had an eye condition and might go blind. The moment Harry found out, he immediately helped me search nationwide for a suitable organ donation.”
“I never expected the new eyes to be this good. Lucas not only showed no signs of rejection but was even
healthier than before.”
“Tell me, whose eyes are these? I really must thank them properly.”
My son’s crying paused. He buried his head in my arms, his small body trembling uncontrollably.
Olivia’s interest grew even stronger. She deliberately leaned in closer to my son and whispered.
“There were several matching donors at the time, but your father chose a five–year–old child’s eyes to minimize surgical risks, saying it was the safest option.”
“Sophia, look–your son’s eyes look so beautiful on my son’s face.”
As soon as she finished speaking, I could no longer suppress the anger in my heart. I swung my hand and slapped her hard across the face.
Olivia wasn’t able to dodge in time. Covering her cheek, she screamed at me.
“Sophia, you lunatic! Let me tell you, that scar on your waist? Harry lied to you, saying it was from a car accident. In reality, it’s from when you donated a kidney.”

“It’s not just your son’s eyes. Your kidney too–both were gifts from Harry to me!”
“You and your son–Harry prepared you both as an organ bank for us!”
Olivia’s face twisted with madness, but her eyes gleamed with excitement, stabbing into me like knives, driving me nearly insane.
My son couldn’t bear it any longer. He struggled out of my arms and ran toward’Olivia, raising his tiny fists to hit her.
