His bloodshot eyes filled with fury.
He pressed the speakerphone button before she could speak and snapped coldly.
“Why the hell do you keep calling?! Can’t you tell I don’t want to talk to you?”
“If his eyes hurt, go find a doctor! What does that have to do with me? I’m not a damn doctor!”
Without waiting for a response, he hung up and set her number to silent mode.
On the other end of the call, Olivia’s face turned red with anger.
She gripped her phone tightly, hatred flashing in her eyes.
“It must be that bitch, Sophia! She must’ve done something to him! Otherwise, why would he treat me like this?”
“Sophia… I should’ve made sure that bitch and her bastard son were dead from the start! “The moment the plane landed and I turned on my phone, it began buzzing incessantly with notifications. Dozens of missed calls and messages–all from Harry.
At 7 p.m., I received his so–called “apology“.
“Sophia, I was wrong last night. I lost my temper.”
“I bought gifts for you and our son. I’ll be home soon.”
At 8 p.m., another message from Harry.
“Sophia, why aren’t you answering my calls?”
“Where are you and our son? Please reply, I’m really worried.”
By 10 p.m., his facade had finally crumbled. His tone grew softer, more desperate.
“Sophia, I was wrong. Please don’t ignore me, okay? I can explain everything.”
“Please, Sophia, come back. I can’t lose you… I can’t lose our son…”
Facebook was flooded with his sixty–second voice messages, one after another.

I frowned and threw my phone back into my bag in disgust.
Every word of his so–called apology made me sick to my stomach.
If it weren’t for the ongoing divorce lawsuit, I wouldn’t have let this man remain in my contacts for even
a second longer.
Holding my son’s hand, I walked into the hospital. The doctor greeted us at the entrance.
“Miss Steward, the tests you scheduled are ready. Please follow me.”
Because of Harry, I no longer trusted hospitals in this country.
To be absolutely certain, I had booked an appointment at one of the world’s best private hospitals abroad to re–examine my son.
After a long wait, the doctor handed me the test results himself, his expression grave.
“Miss Steward, after a thorough examination, we can confirm that your son did not lose his eye due to the car accident… It was deliberately removed.”
Even though I had mentally prepared myself for the worst, the moment the truth was confirmed, I felt my entire world collapse.
This was my fault.
If I hadn’t foolishly clung to that pathetic love for Harry, my son wouldn’t have suffered this way.
If I hadn’t been deceived by Harry’s empty gestures, I would’ve divorced him long ago.
I was the one who hurt Charlie!

A sharp pain twisted in my abdomen. My body suddenly lost all its strength. Darkness clouded my vision, and the last thing I heard before I collapsed was the sound of my son screaming my name.
When I woke up, my son was sleeping by my bedside, his face streaked with dried tears.
I shifted slightly, and the movement startled him awake.
For a brief moment, emotions swirled in his eyes–grievance, helplessness, fear–before he threw himself into my arms and burst into tears.
While I was unconscious, the doctors had conducted a full examination on me as well.

One of my kidneys was gone.
Judging by the sloppy surgical work, the doctor who performed the operation must have been in a hurry–he had even left a piece of gauze inside me.
I clutched the medical report, took a deep breath, and looked at my son.
“Charlie,” I asked gently, “if Mommy makes the bad people pay, and Daddy ends up in jail because of it… will you blame me?”
My son took my hand and shook his head firmly.
“No! As long as I have Mommy, that’s enough!”
I turned my head away, wiping the tears from the corners of my eyes. Then, I sent the report to my
lawyer.
“Prepare everything. I’m officially suing the hospital and everyone involved. I want them all to pay.”
For three days, Olivia had been unable to reach Harry. Left with no other choice, she took Lucas to the hospital herself.
While waiting outside the consultation room, she dialed Harry’s number for the seventh time that day–only to hear a familiar ringtone approaching from a distance.
A moment later, she saw a man with an impatient scowl on his face, hanging up the call mid–ring.
Olivia narrowed her eyes before quietly following him.
Inside the doctor’s office, the physician was pacing the room, his voice filled with anxiety and frustration.
“I told you from the start that this was too risky! But you insisted you could cover it up. What the hell do
we do now?”
Harry let out a deep sigh.
“At this point, there’s only one option–we run. Take the money I gave you and leave the country. Never
come back.”
The doctor’s voice turned furious.
“Do you take me for an idiot?! If I run now, everyone will know I was involved! You’re not trying to pin the blame on me and that woman, are you?”
