How absurd. “This is my family’s company. You’re asking me what I’m doing here?”
“You’re here to work? Your brother didn’t tell me.” She still had a suspicious tone.
“Who do you think you are? Does he need to tell you?” I looked straight at her and replied, giving her an eye roll for good measure.
“You really think you’re my sister–in–law? Huh? You should know your place.” I deliberately raised my voice so the colleagues outside could
hear.
Chloe couldn’t save face and stood up to argue with me.
“Of course I’m your sister–in–law. Your brother is already preparing for the wedding. We’re about to get married. This is something the whole company knows. The way you’re talking to me, is this how you were raised? Where are your manners?”
“You dare to talk about manners? Haven’t you noticed that my brother hasn’t been paying much attention to you lately? Your wedding preparations have stalled, haven’t they?” My sarcasm was evident.
“Are you really too stupid to notice, or are you just afraid to admit it?”
Chloe looked thoughtful, her expression turning unpleasant.
But she wouldn’t show weakness in front of me. Having been high and mighty here for so long, she wasn’t about to admit the fact that she had been publicly humiliated.
“Just you wait and see how I marry your brother. When the time comes, you’ll have to respectfully call me sister–in–law. I might even let you
stay.”
With that, she picked up the designer bag my brother had given her and left with her head held high.
How laughable. You’ll let me stay? It’s uncertain whether my family will even keep my brother around.
Chloe was determined to become my brother’s wife, to enjoy wealth and luxury, to be high above others, and she didn’t even take me, the Sanders family’s daughter, seriously.
But no one had told her that my brother, William Sanders, was just an adopted son of the Sanders family.
From a young age, he had been cautious in his words and actions, growing up in our family. It was only out of consideration for his deceased father that my parents treated him like their own child.
His father had been my dad’s driver before retiring and returning to his hometown, where he unfortunately fell victim to a natural disaster.
Both husband and wife passed away, leaving behind only William, who had just started elementary school. With no other choice, he was sent to an orphanage. It wasn’t until my parents found out about this that they brought him back from the orphanage.
My parents, remembering his father’s service, supported him through school. They hadn’t expected him to be bullied at school.
Later, seeing that he was obedient and sensible, they decided to adopt him as their son, changed his surname, and publicly referred to him as our family’s biological son.
My brother grew up in our family from a young age. After graduation, he was naturally arranged to work in our family’s company and had never made any mistakes.
It’s just that this romance he’s in now is really embarrassing and has stirred up so much trouble.
