Chapter 15
As I exited the school gates that evening, I could feel people staring at me from all
sides.
They pointed at me, whispering.
“That’s Emily Anderson, right? Incredible!”
Many had done this before, but back then, they had said: That’s the delinquent Emily Anderson.
My heart swirled with complex emotions. I was about to walk on when a hand
roughly grabbed my arm.
I gasped in pain and turned around to see Natalie Wilkinson.
Right, she still hadn’t followed through on the bet. I had forgotten.
Natalie looked downright deranged at this point. Prolonged sleep deprivation had left her cheeks sunken and dark circles under her eyes, like a female ghost.
Her expression was twisted, eyes bloodshot. She clutched an exam paper and screamed,
“Emily Anderson! I was marked wrong on this question. I just went to the teacher and got the points back. I have 701.5 now. I’m first place. You didn’t beat me. I’m
still number one!”
The surrounding students exploded into an uproar. Nearly everyone in the school
knew about this infamous bet.
A crowd gathered at the school gates to watch the drama unfold, blocking the way. “Well?” She glared at me viciously, her nails digging into my flesh.
“Trash will always be trash!” The corners of her mouth curved into an exaggerated, distorted smile. “You’ll never win against me!”
The onlookers, not expecting this twist, whispered among themselves:
“Well, she is Natalie Wilkinson after all. She’s always been number one. She
definitely has the skills.”
“Too bad. Just 0.5 points off. Emily Anderson did great too, but I guess the time. was just too short…”
Amid the clamor of voices, some supported Natalie while others expressed pity for

- me.
I violently wrenched my arm free, causing Natalie to stumble.
“Emily Anderson, say it! Say it right now, that you’re worthless! A bet’s a bet. Don’t make me look down on you even more!”
Natalie lunged at me again. I dodged her and slipped my backpack off my
shoulders.
Natalie thought I was about to follow through on the bet. Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she whipped out her phone to film me.
She truly had a vicious heart, wanting to record this moment.
It seemed I no longer needed to feel any sympathy for her.
I slowly unzipped my bag and pulled out an exam paper, unfolding it in front of the
crowd.
The original score of 95 had been crossed out and replaced with a 100.
I smiled, looking into Natalie Wilkinson’s eyes, and said, “Sorry, I also found 5 more points. My total score should be 706.”
“Come on, admit that you’re not as good as me, and apologize to me too.”
I threw her words right back at her.
“Natalie Wilkinson, a bet is a bet. Don’t make me look down on you.”
Natalie Wilkinson’s face visibly went from flushed to completely pale!
Her face turned ashen as she stammered, “Impossible… this is impossible… I’m supposed to be number one… I’m number one!”
The whole crowd was in an uproar!
In an instant, almost everyone gasped in shock.
The scene exploded with chatter, with people saying all sorts of things, mostly mocking Natalie Wilkinson.
Watching them criticize Natalie Wilkinson, I suddenly felt a sense of surreality. When I had challenged her, everyone said I was talking nonsense.
Everything seemed to have turned upside down.
Natalie Wilkinson stood there in a daze. Her legs gave out and she collapsed onto

a classmate beside her.
The little sidekick who had always followed her around, perhaps feeling embarrassed, shoved her away and disappeared into the crowd.
Leaving Natalie Wilkinson sitting on the ground in a trance, still muttering,.
“Impossible… impossible…”
Seeing her so devastated that she was almost delirious, I suddenly found it very dull.
Natalie Wilkinson was a person who had gotten used to sitting on the throne. Once pulled down, she completely collapsed.
Such a person was no longer worthy of being my opponent.
Looking down at Natalie Wilkinson, I said softly, “If you don’t want to honor the bet, fine. But I look down on you.”
With that, I turned to leave.
Everyone automatically parted to make way for me.
After walking a few steps, just as I was about to get in the car, Natalie Wilkinson’s scream suddenly came from behind me,
“Emily Anderson, I’m sorry, I admit I’m not as good as you!”
“But I won’t accept it. Next time I will definitely take back first place!”
I paused for a moment without looking back, then got in the car and went home.
