Trashed: The Day I Ended My Eight-Year Marriage Chapter 11

Chapter 11

I looked up to find Lowell standing there, lips tightly pressed together, arms wrapped around me, his eyes glaring at Allen with open hostility

Annoyance flared up in me. I gritted my teeth, and then, with all my strength, I shoved him off

Lowell, what are you doing here?!”

I thought, Shouldn’t he still

still be living it up in Axelton with Kaitlynn? Why is he here?

Lowell staggered back from my shove, a flash of hurt in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure and spoke defensively

Professor Scott taught me too. Can’t I attend his birthday party?”

He shot me a look, then turned back to Allen, sizing him up, eyes full of challenge

If I hadn’t shown up, where would you have taken my wife? You think she’ll get in your car?”

Allen’s face darkened at his words

Whether Bessie gets in my car is up to her

up to her, not you

That remark seemed to set Lowell off. His face twisted in rage, and veins popped out on his forehead

She’s my wife, so I can decide who’s car she”

Before he could finish, I cut him off coldly

Lowell, we’re divorced.”

The moment he heard the word divorce, Lowell’s voice shot up an octave

When did we divorce? That’s impossible! If I don’t agree, it doesn’t count!”

As he moved to grab my hand, I frowned. Just as I was about to stop back, Allen quickly stepped in front of me, standing firm and locking eyes with Lowell

Didn’t you hear what she said? She wants a divorce. Stay away from her.”

Seeing Allen shield me, Lowell’s face turned as dark as a thunderstorm

No wonder she suddenly brought up divorce. I knew it. Someone must be tempting her

Who do you think you are telling me how to handle my wife? Lowell spat, his voice venomous

In the next second, he balled his fist and threw a punch at Allen’s face

Caught off guard, Allen n was struck, his face darkening as he wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. Then, he removed his glasses

Without hesitation, he grabbed Lowell by the collar, swinging a hard punch back at him

In the blink of an eye, they were rolling on the ground, fighting fiercely

Around us, people gasped in shock, Hotel guests stopped to watch, some even pulling out their phones to record the fight

Stop! It’s enough!”

My heart tightened, and I rushed forward to intervene

Lowell had spent these years indulging in vices, drinking, and chasing after women, leaving him in for worse shape than before. He was no match for Allen

Before long, he was pinned to the ground, punches raining down on his face like a

a storm

12:07 PM ch

Lowell gritted his teeth, trying to raise his hand to block. Just then, he heard my frantic voice

A flicker of joy flashed in Lowell’s eyes. He coughed up a mouthful of blood, wiped it away with a grimace, and forced himself to speak

Tm fine, don’t”

Before he could finish, he saw me rush straight toward Allen, my face filled with concern as I checked his injuries

Allen, are you okay? Do you need to go to the hospital?”

The color drained from Lowell’s face in an instant

I didn’t spare him a glance. I took out some wet wipes from my bag and gently began to clean Allen’s wounds, my eyes stinging with unshed

tears

so sorry. I was fighting with him over the divorce, and you got dragged into this.”

Allen just shook his head, reassuring me. His expression was still gentle

I’m fin

fine, really. They were just some minor scratches. Don’t worry about it. I just couldn’t stand seeing him bully you like that.”

My heart warmed at his words, I softly nodded, quickly finishing up the first aid, and was about to leave with him

Lowell had already struggled to get up from the ground, his hand reaching out to grab my sleeve, his eyes pleading

Bessie, I’m sorry. Please give me another chance. I swear til treat you better. I won’t look at another woman again. Please, don’t divorce me.. Don’t leave me, please”

Before he could finish, a familiar, shrill voice suddenly called out from behind

Lowell!”
