Chapter 2
Behind me was a displeased Harry, and I was so scared that I trembled, immediately hanging up the phone.
He walked with long strides, looking at my phone suspiciously. However, when the phone in his pocket rang, he immediately answered it with a smile on his face.
“Don’t worry, you will be able to drive your car soon.”
“Yeah, the latest Porsche sports car, with the license plate you know, of course I want to give you the best of everything.”
He had a smug look on his face, like an eighteen–year–old boy in love.
had never seen this expression on his face before, even when I once begged him for a discarded car, he firmly refused.
“If you follow me, you won’t have a comfortable life. How can you not even endure the hardship of riding a bike to work?”
And now, he wishes Janet could never leave his side.
I pulled the corners of my mouth sarcastically, turned around to leave, but to my surprise, he
reached out and stopped me.
looked closely and saw that the cuff of his shirt was open.
If it were a normal day, I would immediately fasten it for him without him having to give me
instructions.
But now I just glanced at it lightly and continued walking forward.
He finally noticed my unusually cold expression, raised an eyebrow, and asked me what was wrong.
I didn’t speak, I just took off the wedding ring from my hand and gave it to him.
He froze, a hint of incredulity in his eyes, and then questioned, “Are you really angry just because I asked you to line up?”
I shook my head, but I didn’t want to explain further. Harry impatiently handed me a gift box and gruffly told me to open it.
When I opened it, I saw that it was the scarf gift from the Di family this season. Without even having to think, I knew exactly who it would be on.
I just didn’t expect that I would be so worthless in his heart, only deserving to be a rejected gift that
Janet doesn’t want.
I handed it back to him, and he shouted angrily, “Valery Meadows, don’t you have any shame!

Today is our eighth anniversary, and I specifically bought it for you. Why are you being so picky?”
Looking at his heaving chest in anger, I couldn’t help but laugh, “I’m not worth your effort, and besides, our anniversary was yesterday.”
He was taken aback and his tone softened, “Valery, I really didn’t know…”
I waved my hand, indicating that I didn’t mind, and was about to leave when a coquettish voice broke in, “Valery, you’re here too!”
I turned around and there stood Janet, dressed elegantly and playfully. I lowered my head and instinctively pulled off the loose thread on my dress hem.
When Harry saw her at that moment, his eyes immediately became tender and watery, as if he was looking at his most precious treasure.
“I had her come to queue for you, but now she is upset with me.”
Janet widened her eyes and blinked innocently at me, saying, “I’m sorry, Valery. I just came back and I’m not familiar with anything. You’re not angry, are you?”
My face was extremely pale, and I could only shake my head.
Janet nodded with a smile, playfully lifted her foot, and Harry hurriedly tied her shoelaces like an
obedient little servant.
I felt that this scene was too glaring. We had been together for eight years, and Harry had never
even put a single piece of clothing on me.
I always silently swallowed my grievances, telling myself that he was a busy CEO, so there was no way I could constantly keep these trivial matters in mind.
But now looking back, it was not that I didn’t pay attention, it was that I didn’t deserve it.
“Oh my, Harry, don’t do that. Valery is still watching, and she might misunderstand something
later!”
Janet looked at me proudly, but her words were filled with fear.
I hadn’t even spoken yet when Harry coldly said, “You and I had the most innocent relationship, only those with a dirty mind would think otherwise!”
He looked at me with extreme disgust, as if I was an outsider disturbing their wonderful date.
I forced myself to speak calmly, “You’re right, I didn’t really have any status here to begin with, so why bother thinking about it and making myself miserable?”
Before Cristofer could get angry, I grabbed my bag and walked away alone.
When I finished packing my luggage in the evening, Harry had not come home yet.
Well, it’s also good this way. I can wholeheartedly settle everything.
Hook out my resignation letter, pondering how to approach him.
But what I saw was like an explosion in the workplace: “What did I see? Our iceberg Mr. Mooney was holding a beautiful woman and entering the office!”
“Yeah, yeah, this was the first time, I saw it was so intense that even stockings were thrown
outside!”
“But wasn’t it said that Mr. Mooney had a girlfriend, but he loved her so much that he protected her very well?”
“I also remember it that way, it seems like it was still at our company.”
I held my breath and slowly scrolled through the intimate photos that my colleagues had secretly taken of the two people.
Janet must have just come back from drinking, and she drunkenly collapsed onto Harry, holding in
her hand the formal bag containing the scarf.
She threw it on the ground like trash, while Harry patiently comforted her, humbly concealing his
usual commanding presence as a CEO.
I scrolled to the end, my hand trembled, and I accidentally tapped Harry.
The moment I spoke up, there was silence in the crowd, and no one dared to imagine that I could
make such a big mistake.
Until Harry had read all the messages, he pulled Janet in.
Janet sweetly greeted everyone and introduced herself.
“Afterwards, I was in charge of the Sales Department. Please give me your guidance.”
The group instantly boiled up again, with everyone flatteringly patting each other’s backs.
“Wow, aren’t you our landlady!”
“You can tell she’s a beauty just by looking at her profile picture. Mr. Mooney is really lucky!”
“Yeah, in the future, we could enjoy beautiful women and get paid for it.”
I instantly felt like a sewer rat, unable to obtain the status and respect that I had been striving for eight years, while Janet could effortlessly get it without any effort.
So, I inexplicably posted my resignation application in the group and mentioned Harry.
Harry immediately replied, “What the hell are you up to?”

Perhaps afraid that I spoke too much in the group, not even five minutes had passed when he banged the door loudly.
He walked over with a furious expression on his face, tightly gripping my hand. He spilled the coffee that was brewing all over me, emitting a strong bitter scent.
“Valery, what did you post in the group?”
“Making you line up, always having conflicts with me until now? Do you have any intention?”
His eyes were filled with anger, and he didn’t care at all about my disheveled appearance, soaked in
coffee from head to toe.
I looked up at him, staring at him intently, and said, “Literally, I quit.”
He seemed to have heard a joke, and snorted coldly, “You’re quitting? Valery, without education
and looks, what else can you do if you don’t work for me?”
“Do you really think you’ve been impressive for eight years?”
He did not hide his disdain in his tone, as if for the past eight years, I had been gnawing at him like a
rice weevil.
I smiled and said, “Yeah, I haven’t forgotten that you spoke up for me back then, but after eight
years of being together, I believe I have repaid you a lot, so let’s end it here.”
Harry’s face flashed a hint of panic, but he immediately sneered, “Valery, do you think I would fall
for such a trick of desire? I hate manipulative women the most!”
After saying that, he picked up his coat and slammed the door forcefully.
Over the course of eight years, we had countless arguments, which would always end with me bowing my head and seeking reconciliation.
Sometimes, even when I lowered my head, it was useless. He would intensify and make me
apologize to Janet, slowly eroding my self–esteem.
But this time, I really didn’t care.
Until morning, I still did not send him a reconciliation text message.
He came home with a gloomy face and lifted my blanket.
Still holding a magnificent dress, I felt a slight touch in my heart, but quickly calmed down.
Because this dress was not my size at all.
He moved his eyes away and said impatiently, “I remember you are good at mending. Have this skirt repaired for me before today.”
