chapter Eleven: Sour ties
Samantha’s pov
My heart squeezed with a sharp pain. I was deeply hurt and
betrayed by Theo’s lie. Why would he deceive me about who he
was? It made no sense to me.
I hated liars so much and I had enough of their manipulation. I’d
always assumed that Theo was an exception, but his actions.
proved otherwise. He was just like the rest, driven by self-
interest.
I was so angry with myself for believing a word he said. How
could I be so stupid and blind? How could I believe a stranger.
Hurt was a familiar wound to me. No one in my household, not
even my father, had ever been truthful with me. I felt so
abandoned and recalled the dream I had of my mom, wondering
if the afterlife was where I’d find happiness.
Maybe it would be better to just give up and succumb to death.
My hope had crumbled and devolved into disappointment.
I lay on the bed and stared at the ceiling. It was useless staying
here, and I would have to leave.

Theo the traitor returned after some time. I noticed his skin
looked dangerously pale, but that’s none of my business.
There was a heavy silence in the room, thick with unsaid words.
Theo was staring straight ahead and couldn’t meet my gaze. He sat on a cane chair beside me with a little difficulty. Something
was off with him.
I looked away instead, tucking the feeling of pity that I felt far
away. No liar deserves my pity.
“Samantha, please talk to me. Are you still mad at me?”
What a question. If he was really innocent, then he wouldn’t ask.
that. What did he want me to say?
I was used to keeping my anger locked somewhere deep within
me, but now, I badly wanted to lash out. I glanced at him briefly
before looking away.
“Samantha, please. I’m begging you to trust me. If there’s one
person in this world who genuinely wants what’s best for you,
it’s me.”
“Mia dodged a bullet,” I murmured. Theo heard me, but he
remained silent. He let out a sigh and looked away. I dared him
to refute my statement.
“I know you’re angry, and I was wrong to deceive you. I would
have eventually told you the truth.”
“I don’t want to heard any of your lies, Theo.” I said it in a quiet
voice.
I felt so tired. Exchanging mates, bloodletting, escaping… After
these, I had no power to face another liar.
The words he gave me, the promises he made, all of them were
fake, were lies. I hate my stupidity. Why did I trust Theo so
easily, after all the times I was hurt by my family?
Wait. Theo.
“Is Theo your real name?”
He nodded.
“Great. At least I know my mate’s name.”
“Samantha, please. I admit I have lied to you and used you. But I
just cannot tell you the truth at that time.”
I thought I would feel my heart broken when I heard he
admitted. But actually, I even could not feel pain. It sounded like
he was constantly talking, but I couldn’t even hear what he was
saying.
Everything was far away from me.
“Theo.” I cut him off.
“I’m listening.” He answered eagerly. “Do you feel
uncomfortable? Do I need to call Alex?”
Why did he behave as if he cared about me? I’m already useless.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked up at him. “I want
to leave.”
“Leave?” It took him a moment to react to this word. “You want
to have a trip? I’ll arrange it. We’ll go together.”
I didn’t know why he said like that. He clearly understood what I
meant.
“Stop pretending, Theo.” I stared into his eyes and he looked
very flustered. “I will leave here alone.”
Theo’s eyes narrowed. His jaw clenched, and his muscles coiled.
He stood tall and loomed over me like a fortress. “I’ll never leave
your side, Samantha.”
My heart started racing and I instinctively backed away.
“And you won’t go anywhere.” His voice was cold.
“You have no right to restrain me.”
“I have! I’m your mate. I promised you I will protect you!”
“You also promised me you will never lie to me!” I cried to him.
finally.
But our argument was interrupted by the sound of footsteps.
Alex entered. His eyes darted between us before settling on
Theo.
“It looks like you’re upsetting the lady. You might want to
consider her health and yours.”
“Her health” was like a key to a trigger switch. Theo calmed
down immediately.
Alex continued. “You received an invitation from the Dark Moon
pack.”
“The Dark Moon pack?” Theo and I were confused.
“Why do they want me?”
“Youre invited for the inauguration of the new Alpha.” Alex
said, looking over at me.
My heart shattered into a million pieces. Mia was going to take
everything that was rightfully mine, including the Alpha position.
Theo’s gaze lingered on me, seeking my approval, which only
fueled my irritation.
“Just leave me alone!” I snapped.
“Samantha❖❖”
“Leave! Please” I yelled, my voice echoing through the room. “I
need space to breathe.”
He reluctantly stood up and clenched his eyes shut as if in pain, but I knew it was just an act. I turned away as he reached the door, but I could feel his gaze on me.
This was agony. I was losing everything. My wolf was distant,
my father had betrayed me, Daniel had cheated on me with Mia, and now Theo had broken my heart irreparably. It seemed like a never–ending cycle of disappointment with no escape.
Lost in my sea of thoughts, I heard a whimper. It was very low, and if I wasnt in a quiet room, I would have missed it. It was
coming from inside of me.
When I sat up to listen to it again, I heard nothing. I was about to lie down when I heard it again, and my eyes doubled in size.
This could only mean one thing.
My wolf was here.
