chapter Seventeen: Another Woman?
Samantha
I had no choice but to agree. Theo closed his eyes and smiled
wistfully. That brief action made my heart rate speed up. His
look became intense and I felt myself shiver slightly.
He was the most beautiful man I have ever seen in real life. The
light cast his features in shadows which made him appear
otherworldly, more handsome than I can describe or imagine.
My wolf was glad that we were with our mate. Theo’s eyes
glowed, which made it hard for me to breathe. I found myself
unable to do much else than stare at him in silence. Even my
thoughts became incoherent as I struggled to maintain my
bDanielce.
“Come here,” Theo said softly, beckoning me closer. He gently pulled me into his embrace and guided me onto his lap and I
cherished his warmth.
“You’re so beautiful, inside and out, and your purity of heart is a precious gift. It’s a crime against all that is good for anyone to ever break your heart, trust and innocence that you so freely
give.”

“Please stop,” I said shyly. He chuckled and moistened his lips.
“I rejected your blood because I don’t want to lose you. Blood is the essence of life and the donor must be healthy and have an abundance of it. You suffered too much trauma to keep
donating your blood without being able to fully recover. There
must be a cure.”
Theo paused. His eyes were bright and searching and I trembled when his fingertips ran along my arm. It caused tingles to race down my spine. My wolf howled in satisfaction.
The air around us seemed charged with electricity and I knew it
would not take long until it erupted into an explosion.
“I’m serious. Seeing you here and knowing that you have agreed
to stay makes me glad.”
He took both of my hands in his and I held them tightly to my
chest and savored their warm touch. I never wanted to let go.
I loved the words he was using, but I was also worried that he
was still carrying a poison inside of him. As if he could read my
mind, he calmed my fears.
“I’ll be okay, don’t worry about me. If I were going to give up, I
would have done so long ago, but I’m still alive, so I’ll be fine.”
My eyes settled on the gash on his forehead, a clear mark from

my father’s guard’s sword. He might be right, I thought, for someone to have survived such a vicious attack meant that the goddess had indeed watched over him and spared his life.l leaned against his chest, listening for his heartbeat. “Tell me
more about yourself.”
A full smile brightened his eyes. “There’s not much to know
about me, really. I’m just a regular, run–of–the–mill, utterly
unremarkable guy who happens to have a deadly poison
coursing through his veins. Nothing exciting, nothing glamorous
I shook my head and swallowed my laughter. “There’s nothing
boring about you,” I murmured. He smiled even more widely. My
curious nature urged me to inquire about his family, but I
hesitated, unsure if it was a sensitive subject, so I kept quiet.
We sat there and enjoyed each others presence. He kissed my
temple then looked deep into my eyes. “You make me feel alive,
eyes.”You
Samantha. The only thing holding me back from fully embracing my wolf and claiming you as my own is this poison problem. I eagerly await the day when our struggles end, and I can finally make you mine.”
I blushed as his voice grew deeper and huskier. I longed to speak, but my tongue felt heavy and unresponsive like a stone in my mouth. It was one of those moments where I yearned to

surrender to my emotions and confess my feelings to him, but I was stuck in that awkward limbo where words get stuck in your
mind, refusing to come out.
Theo’s words were cut short as the door burst open and a
stunning young woman strode in unannounced. I swiftly
scrambled off his lap and fixed my gaze on the newcomer as she threw herself at Theo, wrapping her arms around him. A
surge of jealousy coursed through my veins. It was so intense
and caught me off guard.
I watched the woman cling to Theo, and my jealousy simmered like a pot about to boil over. Who was this stunning stranger,
and what was her connection to Theo?
The thought of him being involved with someone else made my mind race with dread. My heart raced so fast that I felt the
physical pains in my chest. I couldn’t believe I had been so blind, so reckless, as to not even consider the possibility that he might
be taken.
I felt like a fool standing there. Had I been too foolish to suddenly forget how Daniel broke my heart? The possibility that Theo had a girlfriend made my heart hurt physically.
“Oh, Theo. I’ve missed you so much. Did you miss me?Gosh, I couldn’t wait to return and shower all my love and attention on you.”

“Luci, stop it,” Theo snapped, but he didn’t seem angry or guilty. This made me confused. The young woman turned around, and
her gaze landed on me. She eyed me from head to foot, making
me grow increasingly uncomfortable.
“Who is she?” she asked with a slight sneer. “Never mind that. Have you made any progress in ridding your body of the poison? Let me see your hand and chest as well.” Her tone was brusque
and her focus shifted to Theo’s shirt.
Her arms tightened around Theo and her eyes flashing a warning as she gazed at me. Her body language screamed possession. I concluded that they were romantically involved and I turned to make a quick exit, but Theo’s voice stopped me from moving.
“Get off my body and stop being a spoiled brat, Luci,” Theo warned. “You’re making Samantha uncomfortable. Stop being a spoiled brat, and leave us alone.”
Luci rolled her eyes. “So what was the outcome of your travels? Did you find out about the poison the Dark Moon pack used on us?”
“No, I didn’t, but you have to listen to me and….”
“You didn’t? But why? You’ve been there for over a month, and you didn’t find anything?” Her eyes narrowed and pointed to the

shattered glass on the floor.
“Is that blood I see?”
“Yes. Samantha was trying to cure me with her pure blood.”
Her countenance changed and our eyes met. I felt a rising body heat and a fluttering in my stomach.
“Pure blood?” she asked, confused. “Who is she?”
“Now you want to know?” Theo said with a smirk. “Meet my
mate, Samantha. She has been fighting hard to bring a solution to our problem.”
Luci’s eyes sprang open. Her eyebrows shot upwards in
surprise. “She’s Samantha? I had no idea. I heard so much about her from”
She closed the distance between us in an instant. Her sudden proximity caught me off guard.
“Can you really heal Theo? Of course you can, but how soon? I need him alive because he’s the most important person to me. I can’t imagine living without him.”
