CHAPTER Nineteen: Theo’s Resolve
Theo’s POV
Samantha looked conflicted. “Would I want to come with you?” she repeated, more to herself than to me. Her voice was barely above a whisper, as if she was afraid to voice the thought.
“It’s a lot to ask,” I admitted, watching her closely. Her shoulders were tense, and her hands fidgeted with the hem of her shirt. “But I think it’s the only way to get the answers we need.”
Samantha sighed, running a hand through her hair, her fingers tangling in the dark strands. “I know. I just… I need to think about it.” She paused, looking down at the floor, her brows furrowed in deep thought. “It’s not just about facing them again.
It’s everything. The memories, the pain…”
I nodded, understanding her hesitation. This wasn’t just about
facing her father and Mia; it was about stepping back into a
world that had caused her so much pain. I reached out, gently
touching her arm. “I get it, Samantha. I don’t want to make more enemies in the Dark Moon pack. Hell, attacking them at all will
cause more damage. To me and to you.”
She looked up at me, her eyes wide and filled with a mix of fear

and determination. “You’re right. It’s not just about them. It’s about ever thing that’s happened to me there. I’m not sure I’m
ready to ice all of that,”
“I know,” I said softly. “But we can’t stay here forever. We need
to find out who’s behind this. We need to stop them.”
Samantha took a deep breath, nodding slowly, “You’re right. We
- do. But it’s hard, Theo. It’s so hard.”
I squeezed her hand, feeling the tension in her fingers. “I know it is. But you’re strong, Samantha. Stronger than you think.”
She gave me a small, grateful smile, though her eyes were still shadowed with doubt. “I’ll forgive the Dark Moon pack,” I continued, my voice firm. “I don’t want to upset you, Samantha, or hurt your family.”
Samantha nodded, her expression thankful. “Thank you, Theo. That means a lot to me.”
Just then, Alex entered the room, looking exhausted. “Theo, Samantha,” he greeted us, his voice weary. “We need to talk.”
I gestured for him to sit. “What’s going on, Alex?”
He sighed, rubbing his temples as if trying to massage away the stress. “It’s about Luci.”
CHAPTER Nineteen. Theos Resche
Samantha looked between us, her brow furrowing in confusion.
“What’s wrong?”
“My sister, as you know,” I explained, motioning towards Alex, “is
madly in love with my doctor. He’s hesitant to accept Luci as his
mate.”
Alex gave me a strained smile, his eyes reflecting his inner
turmoil. “I think she’ll find her own mate when she’s older. She
still has a bright future ahead of her, and time to choose
someone else.”
Samantha tilted her head, curiosity flickering in her eyes. “Why is
he hesitant? I mean, I understand that she’s young, but isn’t it
important for her to feel safe and loved now?”
Alex sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair. “It’s not just
about her age. Luci has a lot of potential, and I don’t want to
stand in the way of her future. She deserves someone who can
match her, challenge her, and be her equal. I’m not sure I’m that
person.”
I frowned, my protective instincts flaring. “I just want her to be
safe, Alex. She deserves that.”
“It’s not her safety I’m worried about. It’s… it’s more than that. I
worry that I might hold her back.”

I studied Alex for a moment, trying to understand the depth of his concern “Alex, you’ve been there for Luci. Why do you think. you’d hold her back?”
Samantha added softly, her voice filled with empathy.
“Sometimes, the people we love need us more than we realize.
Maybe Luci needs you more than you think, Alex. It’s not just about what you think you can offer her; it’s about what she feels
with you.”
Alex sighed again, this time more deeply. “I know, Samantha. I
just… I want what’s best for her. Even if it means stepping
back.”
I glanced at Samantha, then back at Alex. “I get it, Alex. But you
should talk to her. Be honest with her about your fears and let
her decide. She deserves that much.”
Alex nodded slowly, the tension in his shoulders easing a bit.
“You’re right. I’ll consider.”
He leaned back, studying me with a critical eye. “Speaking of
honesty, Theo. I have to ask… why did you agree to go to the
Dark Moon pack? You know it could reveal your identity.”
Alex’s question hung heavy in the air. The gravity of the situation pressed down on me, and I felt the weight of our decisions and their potential consequences. I took a deep breath, preparing

myself to lay everything out in the open. This wasn’t just about
trust; it was bout survival and the future of our packs.
